Bad choice...
We're here right now, day five. Unfortunately, everything from the previous review turned out to be true. The hotel is old, the room smells strong damp and sewage, there are no sunbeds available at 9am - everything is occupied by towels of compatriots despite the signs "do not borrow", constant noise from military helicopters from 7 to 23 take off and land every few minutes.((((

Great resort, but needs a bit of a TLC
We had a great stay at the Pullman Oceanview Sanya - it was a lovely property, with helpful staff and good facilities, but it is starting to feel a little tired.
The location is a bit far down the beach, so you're away from the area of Sanya where it seemed everything was when we drove through. There's enough around with the beach and some walkable nearby shops - but we had to taxi to the night markets.
We booked their apartment style room, which was in a separate tower and away from the main reception. But it was no trouble to get to and from and we were super grateful for all the space and the facilities - it was huge! The room was very clean and well maintained. Although, what looked like a functional kitchen in the pictures was not - it was a steriliser instead of an oven and there was no crockery, cutlery or cooking utensils!
What had sold us on the property was the kids facilities - they show a huge splash zone with a heaps of slides. This still exists, but unfortunately, half of it is closed and in disrepair. They were operating about 3 of the slides, which was good enough for our kids, but not really what we expected. The kids club on the other had was epic! The indoor play space, where we could drop the kids for short periods (an hour or so) was amazing - so many different play zones, including small indoor climbing, ball pits, trampolines etc. Mikey was one of the supervising staff here and he was very kind and helpful. The kids club itself was more of a 'holiday camp' which was paid per day - we did this for one day and it seemed like reasonable value to have the whole day to ourselves. Beyond that they also have a whole arcade of paid games including VR - which was awesome fun!
The on-site Chinese restaurant was fantastic and we had a wonderful first meal there. Breakfast was an international buffet, although it skewed local. No waiting if you get there early (like us!). Ordering F&B by the pool was quite difficult due to the QR ordering system and our WeChat Pay not working - but David by the pool each day was able to help us place the order, which was a great help.
Angel at the front desk was very friendly and spoke great English - she was able to help me book the spa, which was delightful - very professional and relaxing. Aside from that - they also had a koi pond around the restaurant with some of the biggest koi fish I've ever seen and we could pay to feed them, which the kids loved.
Overall, a very good stay!

beach review
Review not from hotel guests, but from people who have legally visited your beach)
What are the rules on the beach by the hotel? You can stay there either by hotel residents or any other people by paying for seats under an umbrella on sunbeds.
The young man and I paid for two seats and relaxed quietly until the company living in the hotel came up and, without asking, placed our towel under our umbrella, commented in parallel “THIS is definitely not from our hotel”.
The time was nearing lunchtime and we were about to move the sunbeds into the shade, where they put their towel, before that we had moved the sunbeds away from the umbrella in the sun.
I asked if they would last, to which the woman of age replied in a rude tone of "I don't know what the difference is," I said that in about half an hour we plan to move the sunbeds into the shade, and in response I heard "well, in half an hour and move," in the same rude tone
I asked the woman to calm down and talk normally, naturally she didn't calm down)
I started talking about the fact that we were not from this hotel, I said that it didn't matter because we had paid for the seats, the aunt started saying something about the check "well go and show us the check."
Then, in a perfectly calm tone, another girl started talking to me, saying that they would swim and half an hour would be enough, I said "okay, thank you."
10 minutes later came with a beach worker who brought them a sunbed, which the woman actively asked, pointing her finger, to move directly to our headboard)
The employee started saying something to us in Mandarin, I texted him in the translator, the woman started getting angry again and talking like bullshit.0)
I checked again if they'd be gone in half an hour, but I already got a negative answer.
Talking to a beach employee didn't change the situation, so I asked for a refund.
Change the rules for staying on your beach, either give rooms only to hotel residents, or let those paying for seats have the same rights. It's not clear why I have to pay for a place with the possibility that someone could come and just take it, the money was returned to us, but still, it was a very strange experience.
But it turns out half a day was there for free, also not bad)
And people, I hope, will be kinder and more polite if they come up and calmly clarify if they are allowed to lie next to us, I would not say a word, lying on health, and there is no desire to respond kindly to such boorish behavior!)
