Wonderful Stay at Morena Resort
Spent a week at Morena Resort in a three bedroom 2 bath villa. The resort is very clean and quiet. The villas are simple but quite comfortable. Each had a small kitchenette with refrigerator, stove and all items needed for a meal. Each villa also had a large and spacious deck with table and chairs, sofas and a hammock. A great place to hang out. Air conditioning is only in the bedrooms and not in the main living space but a fan is provided. There are two pools at the resort and two restaurants. Both were clean, had very decent food and good service. However the pool bar closed early many afternoons when we were there which was a bit disappointing. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Morena is a 7 minute walk or a 2 minute drive from Jan Thiel beach and upon checkin you are given a pass to enter the beach parking lot for no charge. Many reviews speak of the need to walk uphill to come back to the resort from the beach. This is true but it is a gentle hill and it is very manageable. Morena also provides beach towels which can be exchanged each day for clean/dry ones. At Jan Thiel beach there is a small grocery store, many great restaurants and plenty of places to enjoy the beach and ocean. Morena Resort is not a luxury resort but our family really enjoyed the location, friendly staff, cleanliness and safety and tranquility. We would definitely recommend and would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Curacao.

Nice quiet resort with nice garden
In June we visited Morena Resort for the 3rd time (1st time November 2022 and 2nd time September 2023).
Morena Resort is a beautiful and pleasant resort with nice spacious apartments, large garden, nice pool. This time we also used the breakfast and it really disappointed us. Little variation and the sandwiches are not well baked. On a next visit to Morena Resort we will provide breakfast ourselves. On the beach of Jan Thiel you can eat well and cozy.
The restaurant itself is fine and has a varied menu.
The staff is (variably) friendly but that does not apply to every staff member. In the restaurant we experienced an extremely brutal and blunt waitress. She was curt, not friendly. We've been through two incidents. A couple enters, it is quiet in the restaurant, the couple walks in, she calls the people back, they don't hear and the menus she has taken she angrily throws back in the cupboard. Afterwards, the couple is told that they should actually sit at the bar because they indicated that they really only wanted to drink a nightcap. The same happened 15 minutes later, 4 people had to sit at the bar, the people did not like that and then sat down at a table. Waitress good cranky.
I fully understand if you are referred to the bar at a full restaurant but there were only 3 tables occupied. This waitress needs to get a firm performance review, her performance was toe-curving.
Morena Resort is a great resort but a good manager on the floor would still have its added value.

Het spijt ons te lezen dat het restaurant dit keer zo beneden verwachting was. Wij nemen deze feedback serieus om te voorkomen dat dit in de toekomst vaker voor komt.

Have a nice holiday in a beautiful location!
Attractively situated in a hilly area. Apartments reasonably furnished, good air conditioning in the bedrooms. Nice big balcony.
We arrived in the dark, making it difficult to find our apartments, because there was no clear signage.
It would also be good to bring the guests and luggage to the apartment with the golf carts present.
The staff at the restaurant do not excel in terms of friendliness.
The pools are nice, generally there is enough room on the existing beds.
The distance to the beach is about 10 minutes walk. There are some great restaurants here. There is also an Albert Heijn supermarket here.
We could happily keep 1 apartment longer. If that is not possible, there is no shower and changing facility. Tough when you don't have a return flight until late in the evening.
