Hotel was very grand and well kept. Room also was well kept. I stayed three nights, and on the second night, a roach showed up on my desk, so they did move my room. The breakfast room was roomy and had a decent number of options. Internet didn’t work first and second day but third and fourth days, it worked well.

Great experience. In addition to tourists, cooperation staff also stay at the Crystal Hotel

If you are planning a trip to Eritrea or even just Asmara I highly recommend you book at Crystal Hotel. It is a clean hotel with a good breakfast. But its best advantage is the location: located in the Villini Quarter and within walking distance of the Hamasien and Ambasoira hotels and Villa Roma, the residence of the Italian ambassador, the Crystal is close to the central Harnet Avenue and the historic center of the Eritrean capital, as well as some delicious places for lunch and dinner: the Gibabo, the Spaghetti House and the legendary Bar Vittoria. It's the third time I've stayed there and I've never had any problems. At the Reception you can also leave your big luggage in case of excursions outside Asmara (to Massaua, Cheren etc.). If you stay at the Crystal you can walk in the evening in the historic center of Asmara without the need to move by car, and you will enjoy this wonderful city in peace

Palace is Relative

This is formerly an InterContinental Hotel so it has good bones. The positives: clean rooms daily, safe, great cheap massage, fantastic pizza on the terrace, excellent Italian coffee options, nice common space, you can change money, they will do your laundry, the staff are accommodating. In a country that prides itself on being disconnected from the world, this place has probably the best internet available — which is not fast or reliable. None of my apps or my IPhone worked. All this being said, it’s the fanciest hotel available and it’s honestly expensive for what it is. We paid $175 a night. It needs renovation.
