A wonderful stay and education

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the “castle” and thoroughly enjoyed the museum and the grounds. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and being a passionate history lover, I couldn’t help being overly thrilled with staying the night in a museum. There are several intact outbuildings from the manor’s heyday and some restoration work is underway on a few. We learned a great deal about the Baltic Germans and the Estonians who worked the estate. A must for history lovers!

Wonderful !

We had such a wonderful experience here. The Castle is very beautiful & tastefully restored throughout. Our room was clean, comfortable & unique (with a circular bed built into a tower). Food & service were excellent - Sven & the staff went out of their way to accommodate us for which we were very grateful. The Castle itself also is very well located & easy to get to from Tartu (we travelled by bus - €2 for a single ticket) then just a 500m walk up a signposted road in the center of the town yet equally hidden away in beautiful forest surroundings beside a lake. Would definitely recommend staying here for a truly unique Estonian experience.

Brilliant stay, Sven great & delicious dinner

We spent one night while travelling through Estonia.
Our room was comfortable and clean, the other rooms were busy but we didn’t hear them at night which meant we had a great sleep.
Breakfast was very good and filling, you select the items the night before.
We had dinner here and it was excellent. All plates we had.
Sven was the main employee we interacted with during our stay and he was great. Friendly chatty, would offer suggestions of what to eat and drink which were all perfect for us.
We stay here again and definitely have dinner again.

Amazing castle with fantastic staff!

The history of the castle is very fascinating and much care has been taken to renovate the many rooms. All the information was presented in an engaging way. We were lucky enough to meet the manager, who was super knowledgeable and gave us an in-depth tour of the estate. Thanks so much for this! We will be back :).

Interesting experience

2/3 of the old castle is museum and the rest is a restaurant and 4 guest rooms. It is an interesting feeling to spend the night in the ”empty” castle. The park and surrounding small lake have nice walking ways. The restaurant at the castle is a good option for dinner. There is also an other restaurant a short walking distance away at the ”centre” of Alatskivi.
