Almost Wonderful – 4/5
This is a very difficult review to write as there were so many positives on our 5-day trip to Waya Island, especially the brilliant staff. We were expecting an idyllic peaceful stay in what is a very beautiful island. However, it was somewhat spoilt by disruptive noise coming from the nearby staff quarters.
Based on previous reviews we had requested either Villas 1, 2 or 22. We were allocated Villa 1. Villa 2 may have been a little quieter, but the staff quarters are slap bang in between Villa 1 and 22. This is not shown on their resort map and to be honest, having staff quarters so close is pretty poor design for any resort. Noise was anytime of the day and sounded like construction, drilling, banging and other power tool noise. We complained to Ela the resort manager who was sympathetic and as helpful as she could be by telling whoever was making the noise to stop. Unfortunately, it continued after a short lull. We were even offered alternative accommodation, but it was too far away and had some mobility issues. I have noticed in previous TA reviews nobody mentions any noise problems, so perhaps it was just our luck and they were doing renovations.
Our Ocean Villa itself was lovely and well appointed with everything you could wish for. Pauline, who generally made up our room was lovely and very helpful.
Disappointingly we found the food (mainly dinner) did not live up to expectations based on previous TA reviews. Breakfast was good with lots of choice and lunch was ok especially the pizzas which were also very good. Dinner was ok, but we were very disappointed with the lack of quality fish considering the reef location. We did have local fish for dinner as a choice twice, but it was dry and not very good at all. Also, the Fijian night lovo dinner was sub-par compared to other Fiji and New Zealand experiences. They have a small but very good wine list which was pretty good value, but they do tend to put everything in the fridge including fully bodied reds. I asked them to leave a bottle out around lunchtime for us to have later with dinner, this worked.
As I have indicated, the staff were absolutely wonderful and special mention goes to Ratu, Lui, Bill, Joe, Millie and Ela herself. Without them, I would have been tempted to only score our visit 3/5.

Gem in the South Seas
This stay was simply great. However, you have to know for whom. This resort is luxury for adults (without children) who are looking for peace and quiet without action.
As everywhere, a friendly welcome with singing and a welcome cocktail. The staff is overly friendly - they usually greeted me by my first name.
The bungalows are spacious and luxuriously equipped. Small but nice pool. Unfortunately, there is only a small sandy beach, because at low tide you can see the extent of the reef - not suitable for swimming. The sea can be reached via a channel. We had ourselves taken out and were out on the open sea for snorkeling.
The dinner was very good and cozy, with a South Sea atmosphere and music.
Breakfast was served with a large selection.
When comparing prices, one must consider that everything is included - room, meals, snorkeling equipment - and the great atmosphere.
All in all, a gem in paradise. Not cheap, but highly recommended.

Beautiful adults only resort.
Beautiful stay here, the staff were attentive or as discreet as you needed them to be,
The food was the perfect amount with local and international cuisines. The accommodation was spacious and private.
We had booked through my holiday and we with they had offered the helicopter transfers as we didn’t know you could have it and would have preferred that.

Paradise Found!!
Amazing paradise found! WAYA Island in the Yawa group of islands is a it’s a place I would like to keep a secret but I can’t keep this a secret.
Everything about the island exceeded our expectations .
The all inclusive meal arrangements work really well with a wonderful dining room overlooking the water and an opportunity to get to know other fellow guests from all over the world.
Accommodation in Bure style is exquisite and affords quiet and peace as the Bures are spread out from each other and as there are only 25 bures on the island the maximum number of guests in this adults retreat is 50.
But more than anything else it is the staff who made our stay as wonderful as it was. I won’t list any of their names here as each one of them is so special and kind and and went out of the way to do everything they could for us.
Do not hesitate just book this place when you visit Fiji.
