Camping in a van for two nights. It was nice.

Beautiful place, an island in the middle of the clean lake Ruotsalainen. Camping spots are on the grass or the gravel and separated with hedgerows which gives privacy , too. You can get a spot with own lakeside terrace if you’re willing to pay a little extra. It’s worth it. The staff is very friendly and sanitary facilities are tidy. There’s a small restaurant in the area where you can buy fast food, icecream, drinks, breakfast etc. You can also rent a bike, pedal car, kayak, sup board, yard games if interested or play mini golf. Heinola town centre is near, as well as padel yards and an outside gym.
Notice that road E75 goes really near so the noice of the traffic is loud 24/7. There is also quite a number of seagulls screaming from the early morning to the late night - and pooping, too.

Good services

We were there 5 nights in cabin. At first moment we felt welcoming feeling. Cabin was good enough with fridge and kettle. Common kitchen was very clean and big having everything you need for cooking. We had sauna two times (20euros / 1hr) and it was relaxing. Overall I recommend place highly.

Suberb!

Went there for the first time and was not dissapointted. The staff was polite (by finnish standards) and the had everything a person could ask in one stay. We had a cottage for us six. Two adults and four kids. The cottage had toilet, tv, gas grill (gas paid extra by the day), fridge, microwaveowen and dish set. At the camp site there were four sauna's. Three electric and one smokesauna. The lake had pure and clear water. The reception served food and drinks. You can rent a SUP board or go to row, play pool or play some minigolf. There are pedal cars, trampoline and much more for kids and toys and books for the bored ones. This place is 2km from the city centre. Highly recommend for anyone who needs a summer getaway. Allmost every pic is apparently too big for here, sorry

Excellent place in beautiful settings

We rented a cabin for four persons and two small dogs. Everything was ready waiting for us, cabin was clean and well kept, just as advertised. (Even nicer actually). We also decided to rent sauna for an hour and that didn't disappointed us. Sadly it was February so without a hole in the ice we couldn't go dipping to lake. Friendly service at phone as everything (restaurant etc. were closed for the season). Highly recommending instead of a hotel. Close by the city, 20 minutes walk to "downtown".

A great base for visiting Heinola

We chose Heinasaari because my partner and I were visiting my family in Heinola and decided we could do with a few nights on our own instead of a pull out sofa in my sister's living room. we stayed 27-30th June
We booked the cabin for 2-4 people because it came with its own toilet although you had to use the shared shower facilities. The cabin had plenty of space for 2 people. It had a double bed made of 2 single beds (I believe in some of them you cannot put the beds together so will have to stay as 2 singles) and a bunk bed so would've also been great for a family of 4. It had a table and benches inside and a small kitchenette with a fridge, a stove, a sink, a microwave, a filter coffee machine and a kettle. On the terrace we had a small table and 3 chairs. We brought our own towels and bed linen but you could hire these at reception as well. The mattress was way too soft for me, but that's personal preference.
Check-in was very easy and the staff were nice. We didn't eat in the cafe but had a drink out on the terrace one night and the drinks were reasonably priced for the area.
The booking included access to the morning sauna (women 9-10am, men 10-11am) which I took advantage of so didn't use the shared shower facilities. My partner did and said there was never a queue and the facilities were clean and tidy. They included and small dressing room and the shower room so you had your privacy.
The camp site was busy with caravans and mobile homes and some tents as well. Most of the cabins like ours seemed to be occupied through out our stay. The other cabin option was a sleeper cabin with 2 single beds or a single bed & a bunk bed but those cabins only had a fridge so maybe for a one night stopover but you couldn't really spend any time in them and you would have to use the shared cooking facilities and dining room etc. We did see people staying in them but there was always some empty ones as well. Great for someone travelling on a budget as they were very cheap.
There is a BBQ place and you can purchase logs from reception. There is a play area for children and a crazy golf course. You can hire bicycles, canoes, rowing boats etc. We walked to town one morning and it was approx. 20mins along the river/lake side. Free wifi was available in the main building.
One afternoon I hired a private sauna for an hour and enjoyed that with my sister and nephews. If you are staying at Heinasaari, the hire is 20€ per hour which is quite a lot but as a one of was OK. We could've had up to 6 people so if the cost was shared by 6 it wouldn't be too bad.
This definitely wasn't a cheap 3 night stay and we could've stayed at the hotel for roughly the same money but for us this was a good choice and gave us the freedom of dining when we wanted to and the quietness of cabin life. Family and friends could visit us easily and I was able to offer a cup of coffee if required (important in Finland!). The motorway bridge does go by the island so you can always here the traffic but this is just a hum in the background and never bothered us.
