We visited this place as family with 5 year old, it was a fab experience. Highly recommended if looking for Northen lights and wild life.

We stayed here for one night between our travel from Helsinki to Rovaniemi. The place suited for our purposes and late arrival was handled really well.

Disaster

Worst customer service ever!
We booked the sauna for 2 hrs.
The price was 30€. They wanted us to pay for it by 16:00. We were hiking and were a little late with the payment so they did not turn on the sauna at all. Only after we paid 40€ did they turn on the sauna.

About xxxthief's report: Seasonal summer employee was the only one who met them. She reported several problems with payments for example dogs and sauna. She was pushed for lower prices. She didn't want to meet them any more. They called to the management and ordered sauna for 8 PM. We adviced them to come and pay early at about 4 PM to confirm. The summer empoyee reported they passed the reception at about 4 PM and didn't pay the sauna. At 8 PM they came to sauna without confirmation payment. The summer employees charged normal rates. By passanger cards some of them were Swedish. It was forbidden to travel for leisure to Finland because of corona virus. In the end we had to ask them not to return as employees were pushed and we have to protect our employees as young seasonal workers can be very sensitive on their first working places and there was a lot pushing reported.

A magical experience in the wilderness watching the northern lights

If your main priority to come to Rovaniemi is to see northern lights,this is the place you should stay. We took the package from Lapland Welcome and everything is provided for including winter gears. Every night, there will be organised tour from Rovaniemi to Katkavaara and you can join them. We will make a trip up the hill by foot (it is quite steep so you do need stamina and take your own time and pace). Otherwise,I still manage to see the northern lights even right outside the resort. We stayed for 5 nights and saw northern lights for 3 nights. If the weather is good is is very likely that you will see northern lights here.We just loved the stay in the wilderness,it is so beautiful when it snowed,peaceful and quiet. Since we were the only one staying,we get personalised attention and the food is delicious. The cabin is well equipped,clean and beautiful.I will highly recommend this place and the tour agency Lapland Welcome for such a great organising.
