Pure happiness!

We spent 3 nights from June 7 to June 10. 2026. Everything was perfect. Very warm welcome from the owner and her excellent chef husband.
The rooms are all very well renovated. What a pleasure to wake up to this beautiful view of the mountains, in the fresh air! And after a day of hiking, to relax on the balcony with a non-alcoholic mocktail.... Pure happiness! To be done again as soon as possible.

When the hospitality stops at the reservation

We arrived at 8 pm, in the middle of winter, with our two children aged 2 and 5.
We were denied access to the property on the grounds that the booking mentioned three people when there were four of us. Our 2-year-old daughter had not been added. This error falls on us and we acknowledged it immediately.
On the other hand, we did not expect a real lack of solution or support in such a context. A few calls were made to other institutions, without us really being involved or informed of their outcome. We stayed in the hall with two young children, without concrete proposals, without reassuring words, without any gesture of attention in this delicate moment.
So we drove back at night for almost two hours to find available accommodation, without dinner, before returning the next morning to La Foux d'Allos. A trying situation that we would have sincerely preferred to avoid.
We also received an inappropriate comment about how we manage our children, an intervention that is totally irrelevant and particularly unwelcome in these circumstances.
A fortnight later, however, 160 € were charged for a room we never occupied. Our refund request, made calmly and in good faith, did not result in any constructive exchanges or commercial gestures.
Everyone is free to strictly apply a regulation. But hospitality is not just a rulebook.
As for our next visits to La Foux d'Allos, we will naturally pass our way.
Here we share the facts as we have experienced them, with measure and sincerity. Readers will appreciate it.

Madame,
vous aviez réservé une chambre avec 3 lits simples pour 3 personnes et vous nous avez appelé dans la journée pour réserver une table au restaurant pour 3 personnes. vous êtes arrivés le soir non à 3 mais à 4 sans nous prévenir au préalable (bien plus âgé que 2 ans)
et nous n'avions pas d'autres solutions a vous proposer.
nous nous sommes démenés (devant vous) en plein service du soir pour vous trouver un hôtel ou un hébergement auprès de nos contacts privés afin de trouver une solution malheureusement plus personne n'avait de disponibilité.
dans ce genre de situation de surcapacité, les conditions de vente et d'annulation sont clairement spécifiées via votre mail de confirmation. En cas d'incident notre hôtel ne serait pas couvert et notre responsabilité serait engagée personnellement ( il suffit de suivre l'actualité).
quand au remboursement formulé calmement comme vous dites, il a été ponctué de menaces verbales de votre conjoint et d'insultes et de menace de mauvais commentaire de votre part Madame.
je vous suggère donc pour vos prochains séjours de faire preuve d'honnêteté sur le nombre d'occupants.

Allos – Pearl even in winter

We are skiers friends and always looking for hidden gems. This year we decided on short notice, decided on the southernmost ski areas of the Alps, including the Val d'Allos, with its two great, inexpensive ski resorts. For the overnight stay we found a room at the Hotel Plein Soleil in Allos. The choice convinced us: Friendly hosts, excellent local food, good breakfast, bar, sunny balcony, wardrobe for skis and boots, parking etc.

Lovely hotel in a pretty valley. Just be aware if you are travelling from Barcelonnette the pass is steep & narrow

The hotel is easy to find in the small village of Allos, and although it is not far from Barcelonnette, the road is very steep and narrow and it takes approximately 1 hour to drive. We don’t know what the access is like from the opposite direction. The staff are lovely and speak excellent English. The rooms are spacious, quiet and very comfortable. The food in the restaurant is excellent and very reasonably priced.
