The perfect small French hotel!

The hotel was a great combination of local flavor, perfect location and overall nice hotel. It’s not the highest end hotel but that is not what we wanted. We wanted that French historic hotel feel, and that’s what we got.
It had the spiral staircase, small elevators, great breakfast and excellent staff - in particular Bilal who was the front desk clerk for the graveyard shift. Because of jet lag, I would wake up very early and spend an hour or so talking with Bilal about Avignon and suggested places to visit. He was so helpful, nice and knowledgeable.
If you’re looking for a good hotel in the heart of old Avignon with a great staff, I would highly recommend this hotel!
We will certainly be going back to Avignon and staying at this hotel again.

Superb stay

An excellent stay at the Mercure Avignon! The whole team is welcoming, family-oriented and very kind. You feel at ease there right away, with a real sense of service and attention paid to guests.
A very special mention to Stéphanie, for her kindness, her professionalism and her availability. She largely contributed to making our stay even more pleasant.
I recommend this hotel without hesitation!

Room was nice...service at front desk very good...at the bar and restaurant..very bad.seems communication between the two suffers greatly....breakfast was great..

Our stay was a mixed experience. The highlight was definitely the receptionist, who was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. She made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and did her best to ensure we had everything we needed.
Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn’t live up to that excellent first impression. The hotel is in need of significant updates and better maintenance. When we checked in, there was a water spill in the reception area that remained there throughout the day, which didn’t create a great first impression.
Our room had an unpleasant odor, and although the bathroom appeared to be newly renovated and was clean, the towels also had a noticeable smell. In addition, the room was quite warm, making it less comfortable than expected.
The outstanding service at the front desk deserves recognition, but the hotel itself has considerable room for improvement to match the quality of its staff.
Avignion as a town is impressive and magical.

Flaws.

The hotel is located in the center of Avignon.
We had a room with a double bed and sofa. This sofa could no longer be closed and was unusable.
Toilet roll holder was broken, paper rolled on the floor every time.
But the worst part is the administration.
Entrance tickets to the room could not be activated.
I paid on arrival.
Despite that, the hotel still cancelled my credit card for the amount (this has still not been lifted by the hotel)..
And wanted them to pay again at check-out.
The printer wasn't working either and the manager is standing behind the reception desk with a baby on her arm.
Sadness all around.
This also applies to the price-quality ratio.
In hindsight, there are better options nearby.
