Best AC we encountered during 20 days of travel in the Basque Region! Front desk staff spoke English. Hotel close to shopping ,dining and train station but one block from the noise. Highly recommend.

Very good hotel in Bayonne
We spent 4 nights at the Hotel Koegui in Bayonne, and we really enjoyed our stay!
The welcome was quite polite and basic; we were able to leave our luggage with the concierge and pick up the card allowing access to the Boufflers parking lot directly (no assigned spot, however). Entry and exit by swiping the card) This service costs €25/night; I don't know if we came out ahead, because the parking lot itself was never full during our stay and very conveniently located on the neighboring street along the docks. Everything is very easily accessible on foot from the hotel, a real plus.
The superior room was very spacious, pleasantly cool, and it had a clean smell. The sliding "mirror" partitions of the bathroom remained open to the room for our part, accentuating this impression of space. Separate toilets were very much appreciated. On the other hand, a big issue with the faucets in our room (55): water was literally scalding for long minutes when it was placed in the coldest position?? Same issue at the sink, unpleasant for brushing teeth with hot water. From the window, a view of the neighboring rooftops and the cathedral spires further away. Not a single noise or disturbance!
The products offered are simple, their scent perhaps not to everyone's taste (very specific honey smell). The towels are clean and fluffy, the bath mat was changed every day. The bed was very large and very comfortable! Only downside was seeing the pillowcase with slightly torn fabric.
Lots of room for storage, especially in the form of drawers; you shouldn't mind open closets. Big downside regarding the lack of a fridge in the room, but we managed. Coffee maker was appreciated. While the gesture of the two bottles of water upon our arrival was appreciated, it would have been wise to replace at least one on the following days when we had nothing left... Our bottles, without a fridge, stayed lukewarm; a shame for a 4-star hotel.
Very varied and satisfying breakfast, very good in taste. Cozy restaurant dining room, never crowded or too noisy, it's very appreciable!
A very nice address in Bayonne. Just make sure that the two reserved spots in front of the hotel remain free (they were occupied since the previous evening by two Spanish vans while we wanted to vacate the premises and return the parking card...)

Hotel was great.
One quibble... only given complementary bottles of water (2) on first day.
This meant that having booked for 5 nights we had to pay for 8 bottles of water.
If the room had been booked by 5 different couples for one night each I am guessing 2 bottles per day would have been provided!

I was supposed to go to this establishment from Saturday, August 1st to Friday, August 7th
for medical reasons I had to cancel but in time, I sent an email after calling on Monday
but since then they have been asking me to send them a medical certificate (purely confidential) in order to be reimbursed for the small reservation deposit I had made
I find it shocking, to say the least, to ask for that.
