Auberge du Bon Laboureur
Auberge du Bon Laboureur je venkovský penzion z 18. století v centru Chenonceaux. Nachází se jen 500 metrů od zámku Chenonceau a nabízí bezplatné parkování. Pokoje jsou umístěny v pěti různých budovách, z nichž každá má vlastní zahradu a terasu.

Great stay just not Five Star
I've thought long and hard about this review and due to two reminders from the hotel I'm finally posting it, and perhaps I'm being over critical. (but it's five star prices)
This is not a five star hotel. it may well be a good four star, and we had a lovely stay (1 night) but it really cant justify the tag 5 star.
When you get to 5 star (services & price) you are allowed to be a bit picky...
So we stayed in a cheaper room in annex, and the room wasn't exactly full of 5 star luxury - same old squeezy soap and shampoo, no face cloth and simply no 5 star treatment.
We had a fabulous meal in restaurant, service & food impeccable and lovely to see diners who dressed for dinner.
Checking out took an age... at least 4 couples queueing before us (normal enough) but each had a question about their bill, lots of bits of paper accessed and questioned and it took a while.
(we sailed through with ease)
The hotel were happy for us to leave our car while we visited the chateau which was really nice.
So if this was sold as a Four Star hotel I would say we had a great overnight... expect a good Four Star, but don't expect it to be a Five Star experience.

Lovely family run Inn close to Castles & lovely countryside- ideal as a base for exploring. Pool a bonus when it's a scorcher

Rated 5 stars; service 4 stars
If we were well received and led to our suite by the reception, you should know that the establishment is in several "parts"
For people with mobility concerns, the property will probably not be ideal as there is no elevator, steps to climb, roads to cross and lots of gravel
The pool area is on the other side of the road which will require going to the street in bathrobe or changing on site. The heated pool is nice and has a space to change where you will find many towels and a separate toilet
The sauna and hammam are also under the trees and it is necessary to book its slot in advance.
As for tranquility, we will put a downside because the neighbor next door with a pool received several children which is necessarily noisy
The spa is shaded and adds value instead
Our suite was located in another part with a road to cross and a small maze further and a few steps allowed us to find a comfortable and spacious room
Although the carpet at the entrance was dirty and a bathroom window about to fall (it was opened and quickly closed), we were comfortable and the temperature was spotless
We found several additional cushions and pillows, a real +
The bed was comfortable, we spent 2 good nights
On the breakfast side, the buffet is sufficient, varied and especially GOOD!
Scrambled eggs were successful, sausages good, pastries successful and cakes: the flan was delicious and the chocolate fluffy half melting half fluffy
What will fish here, again, as for the restaurant: it is the service!
No hello, little or no smile but a cold and rushed welcome!!!
We are asked the room number but not if we had a good night or a good morning
There are also efforts to be made on cleaning during the service because it was dirty and not cleaned around dishes (pieces of cake next to plates, eggs that overflowed from the spoon on the worktop, no glasses on the tables as well as near drinks, juices did not make you want, water had run...)
Once again, what a pity for a family establishment that, despite the lack of frankness and membership of a hotel group, does not find the excellence expected of a high-end establishment

Beautiful, and cared for property. Staff were very helpful and wonderfully friendly. Pool area and rooms were a bit dated but very clean. Castle walking distance, would stay here again!

5 stars?
We chose this hotel thinking we would find the luxury, calm and voluptuousness that a five-star hotel promises. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to this expectation.
Upon arrival in the room, the first impression is disappointing: smell of old, dark atmosphere, dated decoration and view directly onto the road. The whole thing clearly lacks modernity and charm. Above our room resides the owner of the premises who will come and go in stiletto heels on the floor until 1 am. The calm expected in this category of hotel was unfortunately not there.
Regarding the restaurant, the meal proved to be average. When we asked about the composition of the cheeseboard, the answer was limited to “regional cheeses”, without further details. For an establishment of this standing, we expect a better knowledge of the products served.
Pros: Breakfast offers quality products. Very good service. The spa area is nice.
We leave with the feeling that the establishment did not make us want to come back.
