Smell of smoke
On arrival, the host greeted us warmly and was very friendly and welcoming. Communication beforehand via WhatsApp was excellent, and he took the time to show us around the room and facilities on arrival. He also shared helpful recommendations for local restaurants and had a great sense of humour, which made us feel at ease.
However, we were immediately disappointed by a strong smell of smoke/tobacco as soon as we entered the accommodation, particularly in the main entrance and dining area. This was quite off-putting and unfortunately put us off having breakfast, despite the good reviews we had read and the fact we were really looking forward to it.
We had specifically selected a non-smoking room, and to be fair, the room itself was clean, comfortable, and well air-conditioned. The bedding was fresh and there was no noticeable smoke smell in the room itself. However, the towels smelled strongly of smoke, which we found quite unpleasant and meant we couldn’t use them.
Additionally, the listing mentioned a city view, which we did not experience during our stay.
Overall, while the host and room itself had many positives, the smell of smoke in shared areas and on the towels significantly impacted our experience.

Unfair treatment
I booked a room and, at the time of booking, clearly requested a late check-in. Only a few minutes after confirming and paying, I received a message saying that late check-in was not possible — even though my booking had already been accepted.
I immediately explained that this was unfair, as they could have declined the booking before taking payment, or offered a quick refund since this all happened within minutes. Despite this, my refund requests were refused.
When I arrived, the property was closed and I could not check in. I followed all steps to resolve this through Booking.com, but the property did not cooperate.
The issue has since been reviewed independently, and it was confirmed that my claim was valid and that they ware wrong.
It’s disappointing that Patrick & Pierre chose not to act fairly in this situation. I hope they improve their communication and booking process so other guests don’t experience the same problem.
