My new favorite hotel in France

I've been fortunate enough to travel to France several times. Previously I believed the Prince de Galles hotel in Paris would always be #1 in my heart - and then I spent a few days at the Hotel Les Esclargies in Rocamadour.
The hotel itself is immaculate and charming and comfortable and quiet and an excellent value. A from-scratch breakfast is served in a room with windows as walls, with a lovely garden view, or outside on a patio. Then you step outside into the acres of lovely property or relax poolside, breathe in the clean air and listen to birds, and find serenity. This is the place to bring a good book and read it outside in the shade of trees, as breezes stir leaves over your head. Stay at least two nights to unwind. Stay several days and use it as a base to explore the region.
The holy village of Rocamadour itself is like no other place on Earth, if you avoid the tourist shops on the valley level. You can actually leave your car at the hotel and walk less than 400 meters to the medieval city from your hotel room, across the acres of Hotel Les Esclargies property along a foot path. You can take beautiful night photos of the cliffside village from the edge of the hotel property. And take photos of the starry night sky, which is stunning on a clear night.
This is the only hotel I have ever experienced that did not make me feel that my purpose in the equation was just to pay money. I felt that I was there because the elegant founder and her gracious son want to share their gorgeous property with others who will appreciate how unique it is. I will hold a special space in my heart for this very, very special place.

An excellent option for visiting Rocamadour.

Located in a quiet area close to both the historical site and the Hospitalet district, where there are many restaurants, the hotel offers excellent comfort in a pleasant setting.
The charming and available staff adds to the hotel's appeal.

It doesn't get much better than this......

This was just the loveliest place to stay. Everything about the place was superb from the warm welcome from the owners to the quality of the furnishings, design and the incredibly chilled vibe. The beautiful gardens and pool were delightful and the breakfast was spot on - taken on the sun drenched terrace. Location wise it was perfect for both Rocamadour and the local restaurants in the nearby village of L'Hospital. The information provided by the owners proved spot on too and restaurant recommendations were great too. Wish we could have stayed longer.....
