Things can look very pretty in pictures...

I think if you look closely at the reviews as one would closely at the rooms you would agree that something is amiss. I agree from afar it is beautiful, but.
So when we arrived no one was there - no code delivered and after numerous calls and messages we gained entrance (about 30 – 45 minutes of waiting in the car wondering where we were going to spend the night – and no you can’t say this is on me – you are selling a hotel room at the end of the day should have a system to allow guests entry without guessing – e.g. no one picked up the phone when we called). The receptionist/manager that met us was very pleasant and friendly – only reason why a few stars at all.
As others have said, the estate is completely run down, significant water damage everywhere (mold?) and material structural damage throughout (oh my, on one external wall there are five to six windows missing entirely and open to the elements). All the rooms are clean on their face but look closer and it is scary. As mentioned elsewhere everything is in dis-repair. A shame as from afar this place is amazing and has loads of potential.
The owners (who apparently live there in some fashion) showed up later in the evening and treated us with disdain and did not even acknowledge our hello.
The pool was half full and the water a deep green color quite offsetting - the small playground was rusted and crumbling to the ground, the grand dining room (for Brekkie) was dark, dusty and not very clean - i saw into the kitchen and it looked like a hurricane went through it. That translates across to the entire property - we even snuck a look into the loft rooms (which were unkempt, disgusting and looked as if squatters lived there and the main living space, with a huge snooker table, covered in boxes felt as if its grandeur disappeared around 1970).
The other couple we were with thought it was a grand experiment of the old bourgeoisie and delighted in the unique aspect of staying in a run-down chateau. I was looking for a relaxing night’s sleep, which I did not get (too afraid of how unclean it all felt) and could not get out of there quickly enough at 5am (luckily they gave us the gate code to escape).

Peaceful chateau away from it all!

Beautiful stay in peaceful chateau with amazing hospitality from Anne Charlotte and her lovely family. Absolutely charming.

At the Castle, I am the Queen...

Change of scenery in the countryside of Bern, the castle is a haven of peace and happiness, remained in the style of the time, beautiful decoration.In the morning breakfast in the pretty room of the four seasons, delicious homemade jam.The gentleman,welcoming,the couple well present and the children very polite.Some animals and flowers come to decorate the Mood.A point of honor to the very solar Chateauaine with projects full of the head.Remember to visit the Cathedral of Jean Linard and bring back good honeys and Sancerre.The BB of Sin le Noble ,

Very clean of course need a little new but we know that in such a castle there is always a lot to do change of scenery assured in this very beautiful house where we were alone castles
