Pleasant and quiet romantic stay

We stayed one night at Pension Helvie as part of a WE "Weekendesk". It is very well placed, easy to find. Small +: the car park has a socket for charging electric vehicles. We were very well received. The bedding is comfortable, the room well equipped, rather well soundproofed. The calm was appreciated! Breakfast is plentiful, the tables are laid as you go. Perhaps they should be prepared beforehand or the coffee and chocolate cups should be put into free use. We were unable to test the Inn's Michelin-starred restaurant as it is currently closed. To summarize, pleasant and quiet stay and friendly staff. We recommend for a romantic stay.

too bad...disappointment!!

What a disappointment: a hotel that still has 4* and has no restaurant but a superb unused terrace, which cannot provide a breakfast buffet if there are not enough guests but another terrace that is always unused.
A room with equipment reduced to a simple wooden desk, an empty minibar, and overall barely worthy of a 2*.
Fortunately, a very beautiful pool and staff (reduced in number and forced to fill multiple roles) who were completely up to the task and extremely kind and friendly.
It seems that the current owner, namely the casino, is uninterested in this hotel, which was one of the 3 most pleasant in Vals-les-Bains.

A beautiful, comfortable Art Deco hotel.

Art Deco style hotel. Very well located, a stone's throw from the casino and the city center of this pleasant spa town of Vals-les-Bains.
A very appreciable quality of welcome and attention.
The pool is great.
Comfortable air-conditioned room, a bit old-fashioned but chic and nothing is missing - nicely tiled bathroom, storage spaces, desk, balcony to enjoy the view.
The breakfast is very good with tasty, quality local products.
A nice place.
We will certainly return.

Undeserved stars

I've been coming to this Pension for years... and it's getting worse every year.
Curtains are not large enough to properly obscure the light.
Bathroom taps say "cold, and... "cold."
There is no storage in the bathroom.
Paint flakes and woodwork is split.
The last time I was there, the bedside lights weren't plugged in.
The masking bell of the ceiling lamp was broken.
To top it all off, the parking lot became paid for without being reminded on the Reservation Acknowledgement.
Finally, the restaurant is "temporarily closed".... For two years.
Only breakfast saves (a little) the furniture, despite a high price.
In short, an establishment that has not deserved its stars for a long time.
