Great place to spend!

Wonderful hotel, beachfront, peaceful and nice environment, classical architecture, friendly staffs and nice restaurant concept, always good to be back.

Recommended with caveats

My second time in Gambia. This was definitely a better place. First the positives. The food here at all the restaurants is good. The breakfast could be a bit better with more variety each day, but the lunch and dinner options are fantastic! The ambiance of the whole compound is amazing. The grounds are nicely landscaped and there are multiple pools. The beach is very pretty and clean. But, the place shows the wear and tear. Aspects of the room need attention as they are getting old and worn. The pool, while clean, showed its wear. No gym was available.
The office does have a small store with sundries, snacks, beer and wine and soda and it is reasonable. There is an ATM on the hotel grounds. Credit cards are accepted easily. And outside craft vendors are not on the hotel hassling you.
I would recommend the hotel but manage your expectations.

I will definitely come back! The staff are so caring, helpful and kind. They go out of their ways to be sure you have everything you need, whether that’s in your room, poolside, by the beach or in a restaurant.
I had a club villa, with a beautiful terrace with two large sofas, a table and chairs. My room was so big and each evening, during turn down service, they closed my mosquito nets (although thankfully there weren’t any mosquitos!). I came to stay here as I knew they had Thai chefs, from when I’d come here for dinner in a previous visit. So the Thai food was fabulous, but so were the breakfasts. The eggs shakshushka were probably the best I’ve had anywhere in the world. I even asked the chef how to make them!
There are plenty of pool options and they were always quiet, with the sound of the waves breaking in the background. Poolside cocktails tasted fabulous and they even have my favourite, banana daiquiri.
The hotel does feel a little dated, but it’s still fabulous and I loved my stay.
I was disappointed by the spa, they always cut treatments way short of the amount of time I’d paid for and other guests noticed the same thing. They seemed disorganised and left the changing rooms messy. However, it’s nice to have well priced massages in site.

Coco Ocean was wonderful. The facility is beautiful and the staff were all so helpful! So glad we stayed there!!

2 week stay at the Coco Ocean

This a beautiful hotel and for the two weeks over Easter we had it almost ourselves. Large spacious rooms with a nice terrace. Occasionally visited by the friendly monkeys! The sea doesnt sound safe but the pools were quiet so we stayed around those when sunbathing and no racing for the sunbeds. The food in the evenings was excellent and reasonable, particulalry the Thai, though the beach bar food was disappointing. It may be more expensive than others but made our holiday that bit more special.
