Good place for a sundowner

Were here for some beer for sundowner. Friendly service, fair prices, right on the beach, but this area could do with a facelift.

Not very clean

At the time of writing this review, we visited four different cities in Guatemala and stayed at other 3 and 4 stars hotels. This one stood out as overpriced, given the state of the room.
I’d start by saying that the location was unbeatable, and parking was available on-site. This is a beachfront hotel with rooms across the street. There are two pools with tons of space for kids to run around. The ground was well-maintained, and it looked beautiful during the day.
The service was adequate, but you need some basic Spanish. There are two cabanas with chairs for the guests on the beach and a beach bar with a good beer selection.
The room size was decent (1 double bed and one single bed even though there were just 2 of us) and came with an AC (which was needed given the temp was 89F at night). But it was a very basic room - no beach towel, only one face towel for two people. No TV (not a big deal) and not many power plugs. The bathroom felt dirty, and I work up to a dead roach in the shower. No hot water, and the floor/tiles looked like they haven’t been scrubbed in a long time. Not to mention all the bugs that came through the windows.
Luckily we were only here for one night. Look elsewhere if you have a more extended stay.

(Restaurant review only) Dishes and flavors can be variable, consider alternatives.

We came to Cafe DEL Sol only for lunch. The location by the beach is great, the view of the ocean can't be beat. The food unfortunately is just OK. We had crapes with banana, civeche, seafood soup, cheese quesidalla, chicken soup, and stake rice. The dishes were served in 15 mins. The taste was variable, we were hoping for them to be yum. The staff was attentive and helpful. They also have clean bathrooms.

Awesome place

I stayed here for 4 days and loved it. Place was quiet with not a lot of guests. I stayed Monday-Thursday. Pool is lovely with plenty of sun. Pool bar wasn’t open when I was there so it was quiet as well. Lots of hammocks. Their bar is right on the beach with amazing views. The staff spoke English if you cannot speak Spanish. Montericco itself is a charming village.
Room was spacious for what I needed. My room didn’t have A/C but the fan was sufficient. Bed was comfy and I had wifi nearly everywhere on the property.
I had zero complaints and highly recommend this place if you’re in Montericco.
Not much of a nightlife in the town after 9pm during the week. But I enjoyed that as well.
It’s all about what you want out of your stay.

Amazing hospitality

Staff was extremely polite and welcoming. Food was delicious and came in big portions. Pools and rooms are very clean. Reasonable prices! The town is safe to walk around. My family can’t wait to go back.
