Great experience
Really lovely owners who look after you during your stay and are always on hand. Very good opportunities to make friends here and good vibes

Well maintained hostel with great location and vibe
I visited Happy Panda in Dec 2025, it was my 3rd time here and as usual, was a great experience. I had earlier visited in Nov 2022 (with friends) and April 2024 (solo) and my experience in Arambol and the hostel makes me keep coming back periodically.
Well, I stayed here for a week this time along with a friend and was on workation. They have a decent WIFI and in-house cafe with reasonable prices. There are many places to eat nearby too if you want to eat elsewhere.
The vibe of the hostel is pretty cool, the rooms are very tidy and the entire hostel is very well maintained with attention to detail at many places for convenience, for example - curtains in each dorm bed so that it feels like a enclosed mini room. Kudos to the guys who run this beautiful hostel as a passion project - Kartik and Saurav - they are very friendly, fun to talk and I enjoyed my time with people in the hostel as well as around Goa.
Some of the memories I could recall during my stay would be morning surf lessons, working comfortably, having great in-house food, evening sunsets, karaokes and table tennis, going to my favourite places in Arambol and lastly as a dog lover - it was a delight petting cute doggos Bella and Benji in the hostel - thanks to Kartik for bringing them and kudos for giving them a great haircut ;)
On a side note, in case you are someone who doesn't drink or smoke (like me) and unsure about being here, I would say - you would be in a minority but still have a good time at the hostel because of the different activities/vibe there as well as around Arambol, only the passive smoking in the outer common area might annoy you sometimes but it's manageable and if you are from NCR, you are already used to so much more xD
Lastly, if you are planning to visit Arambol, I will highly recommend you to stay for atleast 3 days to be able to have fun at this hostel and enjoy places nearby.

Disappointing Experience – Poor Service & Discriminatory Attitude
I live and work in Australia and was visiting Goa as part of a solo trip. I usually enjoy staying in hostels for their community vibe, but unfortunately, choosing Happy Panda Hostel was the worst decision of my trip.
I had booked a 3-night stay via Booking.com but ended up leaving within 12 hours due to several disappointing experiences:
1. Location
The hostel is located far from the main city areas, and reaching it requires navigating through unreliable transport options. With heavy traffic, the journey from the airport or north Goa can take several hours. It’s not ideal for solo travellers or those unfamiliar with the area.
2. Payment Issue
On arrival day, I was told that my Visa card “wasn’t working,” even though I had successfully used it throughout my trip in Australia, Hong Kong, China, and India. It felt more like an attempt to bypass Booking.com’s system than a genuine card issue.
3. Check-in Experience
After nearly 20 hours of travel and a frustrating taxi experience, I reached the hostel around 10 p.m. The owner, Kartik, appeared more interested in socializing with a group of young foreign (mainly white) guests than assisting me.
He cancelled my existing Booking.com reservation and insisted I pay directly to the hostel — leaving me little choice since I had no alternative accommodation that night.
4. Discriminatory Behaviour
During check-in, Kartik asked me to fill out a register, including my age. He then informed me that guests over 38 years old were not allowed to stay, a policy that was not mentioned anywhere online. After some hesitation, he allowed me to stay, saying I looked “too tired” to go elsewhere — but not before implying that “older guests often cause trouble after drinking.”
I found these comments ageist, inappropriate, and unprofessional. His attitude towards Indian guests, compared to foreign visitors, was noticeably biased and made me feel extremely uncomfortable.
Overall Impression
I left early the next morning. I would rather sleep on the beach than return to this property. The entire experience was unwelcoming, unprofessional, and disappointing.
Suggestions for the Owner
• Clearly state your age restriction policy on all booking platforms.
• If you are concerned about intoxicated guests, stop selling alcohol on your premises instead of stereotyping certain age groups.
• Offer equal respect and service to all guests — not just attractive women or foreign travellers.
• If you prefer direct bookings, avoid listing your hostel on third-party platforms.
Final Thought
Hospitality should be about warmth and inclusivity, not discrimination or favoritism. I hope Happy Panda Hostel improves its professionalism and attitude toward all travellers, regardless of age or nationality.

Chilled Vibes & Warm Hospitality at The Happy Panda
The Happy Panda has a wonderfully laid-back vibe that instantly makes you feel at ease.
Karthik and Sourabh are excellent hosts - one brings great energy, while the other adds a sense of calm, creating the perfect balance.
The rooms and bathrooms are neat and clean, and the staff is genuinely nice and sincere.
The food deserves a special mention - wholesome, soulful, and incredibly tasty.
Hats off to the chef!
Overall, it’s a great pick if you’re looking for comfort and good vibes in Arambol.
The only small suggestion would be to organize more activities within the hostel to encourage social interaction and add a fun, engaging element to the stay.
