Ideal homestay away from home

For travelers( back packer, solo, out door activities etc) like us homestay is home away from home. The families manage these facilities have one thing in mind is passionate of so many things & provide best possible service with whatever they are managing, to strange families staying with them few nights & learn each other on culture, hobby etc.
At Jessic homestay (humbly named after their sweet daughter) we stayed 3nights after our ultra trail run event(1st week May 2022) at Rimbik village. We were recommended to stay here by a sherpa familes, who most of the time at mountains guiding trekkers.
We found this family (home stay management) is down to earth in meeting our expectations & made our stay comfort than our own home( rooms, food, travel guide , driver, vehicle etc, even familiarize with town market). Ideal for small/ big families, frds group . They have dormitories for budget travelers. Highly recommended to stay in this facility being family friendly & away from busy town.

One of the best place in Darjeeling

I alongwith my family stayed there for three days in December. Very near to the Tibetan Refugee Center. Host Robin and his wife did their best to make us comfortable in the freezing cold. The upper room we booked was nice, spacious and well decorated with simple handmade items. View of Mt. Kanchenjunga from the room is splendid, actually we skipped going to Tiger Hill. Breakfast provided was good with Darjeeling tea. Local tour was also arranged by Mr.Robin which went on well. We left for Kalimpong after three days. I recommend this place.

One of the worst stays in my travelling history of 20 years

Before I start, to be fair, the hosts Rabin and his wife are very warm and helpful people. Rabin helped arrange the travels for our trip and got us excellent drivers. The problem is the homestay itself. We were 2 families that stayed here around Christmas in 2019. The location and the building feels like servant quarters of some establishment. My family stayed in a dorm like room on the ground floor, while the other family stayed upstairs. Both rooms had a musty stale smell. Outside the ground floor room door there is a 1 foot wide drain. Inside the room: the TV did not show any channels. Heating arrangement (after paying extra or it) was next to useless. There was a 2 inch high gap below the door rendering any makeshift heating useless. Upon request, a thermocol bar partially covering the gap was provided. Even the lock outside was dilapidated and hard to operate. There was no geyser. Instead a immersion rod was provided. Bathroom was like an Indian railway coach bathroom. It had western commode but not very clean.. we spotted cigarette butts! Bath outlet drain was clogged which I had to clean myself. I killed 2 medium sized spiders and tried to kill a spider that was about 3 inches big on the curtain but it escaped. Walls are made of some kind of metal sheet. The included breakfast was 1 slice toast bread+butter+jam and 1 boiled egg per person. Hosts offered to make more but the dining area was so cramped.. we decided to eat proper breakfast outside. The host told us about bonfires.. but in our 2 nights we never saw it. This place is ok for bachelors on a backpacking trip but families specially with kids should strictly avoid. We were grossly misled by the ratings and reviews on MakeMyTrip and even on TripAdvisor. At checkout, the owners asked us for a 5 star review.. given their warm and helpful nature.. I suspect people give the 5 stars out of pity. Sad part is we paid around 13500 for 2 nights via Makemytrip while the place is no more worth than Rs 800 or 1000/-

Home away from home

We stayed in Jessica this October. During our stay we don't feel that we are away from our home.Mountain View from this homestay is very beautiful.The room & washroom also very clean. Homemade food also very tasty. Both Robin & Jaya mam r excellent person. Their behavior with guest is heart touching. They offer us for bonfire & barbecue.If u want to spend some days with laps of nature then Jessica homestay is a perfect choice.

Very good experience

Me, my wife along with our infant daughter went to Darjeeling for a brief stay of 2 nights there. We booked the deluxe room which was very well decorated, aesthetically pleasing, had all the necessary facilities and also had a nice view of the snow capped mountains ahead. They provided us with a local sightseeing package comprising all the major spots as well as drop off to NJP railway station at a very reasonable price. The owners of the homestay were very courteous and always checked whether we were comfortable or not and also whether we require anything for our little one. The food provided was also very good. The hospitality extended to us was very warm. They truly made us feel pampered and at home. I'll definitely visit again.
