Mismatch between this property’s pricing and what it actually offers.
We stayed in a “Maharaja Room,” a name that sets expectations the room does not meet. While spacious, the finish felt more like a basic lodge than a luxury stay. There was no refrigerator, which is a basic expectation at this price point. The bathroom was particularly poor - there was no hot water on the evening of our arrival and the next morning, visible holes in the wall, low water pressure, no bucket unless specifically requested, and no separation between shower and toilet, causing standing water with poor drainage.
The hotel advertises activities like archery and volleyball, but none were available, making the promotion misleading. The Glass House Café, though attractive in pictures, is underwhelming in reality, with basic seating and an ambience closer to a roadside dhaba than a premium café.
Positives: The manager, Ashok, was attentive and genuinely concerned about guest comfort. The staff, though informal and untrained, were polite and helpful. Breakfast was decent and the evening bonfire and live music were the saving grace.
I have no objection to paying a premium when the experience justifies the cost. However, it is deeply disappointing when guests are misled through false advertising and branding, and a so-called “luxury” experience turns out to be basic at best.
Luxury is not just about pricing or naming rooms grandly; it is about infrastructure, attention to detail, comfort, honesty in representation, and guest experience. Unfortunately, this property currently does not meet those fundamental expectations. Ultimately, we chose to shift to Peaks and Pines Resort, which cost half the price and delivered a far superior experience in terms of comfort, service, and overall quality, highlighting the stark mismatch between this property’s pricing and what it actually offers.
Note: The property is about an hour from Lansdowne town and market, which may be inconvenient for some travelers.
