Clean, green, relaxing
We enjoyed sitting either on the beautiful balcony amidst the nutmeg and other trees, or sitting by the river, away from the hectic of street trafic.Also we liked walking through the surrounding pretty fields nearby, along narrow irrigation canals watching all sorts of different birds (green parrots, painted storks, herons, kingfishers. kites).
Good we had time enough to relax there and enjoy the hospitality , great help and kindness of the owners along with the delicous food they prepared.
Once we took the bus to Fort Kochin via Vypeen Island, on other occasions we were happy about the taxi service they provide.
The house and room is very well taken care of and very clean.

Simply Excellent!
By far one of the best experiences of our Kerala trip. We stayed only overnight on our way back to Mumbai via Kochi and spent the night here.
It was truly a 'homely' experience. The owner called a couple of days earlier from Dubai to confirm our arrival, inquired about our arrival time and arranged for pick up from the railway station (as also the drop to the airport the next day). When we expressed desire to have some authentic home made Kerala food, he spelt out the whole menu for us according to our preferences!!
The drier was equally friendly (and seemed to be more of family friend of the owner than a driver) and stopped on the way for us to pick up some local food specialities. The ride to the home was memorable. For those who love nature, will definitely enjoy this ride. Once we left the highway, the road literally wound through dense greenery and small villages. You could see plenty and plenty of coconut, banana and mango trees and lush green fields. The road also passes over the famous Muzikkulam Sree Laxmana Temple, the third of the Nalambalam.
The home had a very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. River was just at he back of the house. The family was very courteous and served us just as our family would do - with love and warmth. The food was indeed delicious - fried fish, fish curry, avial, another vegetable, sambar (lip smacking), Kerala rice and the south Indian pappadam.
If someone wants to relax for 3 - 4 days and not spend much time in sightseeing, then this is the right place to go. This is also conveniently located near the airport as also to the railway stations.
Will definitely visit again.

nice homestay outside the city
A short stop from the airport comparatively - maybe a 20 minute drive. Our hosts were wonderful for the 3 days we were there, and having the run of the place was great. Food was great, peace and quiet was great. A good place if you want a slow start to a holiday.

A real family stay!
We stayed at the Riverview Homestay in November (young cuople couple from Germany) for three nights. Time with the Varghese family was great! The freshly cooked food is amazing, the rooms are spacious, clean and it is very calm and relaxing in the house and garden. If you wish you are provided with tea or coffee in the afternoon which we really loved. The house is directly located at the river, in the late afternoon watch Kingfisher and Bee-Eater birds and fruit bats. The sourrounding village is lovely and not at all touristic. A christian school is nearby as well as churches and small shops (try the fresh coconuts!). The brother-in-law of the Varghese family is a Taxi driver and provides transport in his comfortable AC car. With him we visited the nearby Athirappilly falls (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athirappilly), a very nice daytrip! On our last day, we stayed another night and the family brought us to the airport in the very early morning to catch our flight. (The homestay is close to the airport, a 20 min drive, charge at prepaid taxi ticket counter 440 rps.)

A good homestay away from city
Well maintained, helpful hosts, we had a good experience on our first home stay and got to see the places we wanted to visit, cochin, athirapally & vazhachal waterfalls...thanks to Martin & family for everything
