This location was perfect and Sanjay did an incredible job making sure we got the full experience. He set up sunrise and sunset boat tours, arranged an amazing walking tour with our wonderful guide, Deepak and made sure we knew how to get to each spot including a great dinner restaurant.

Online listing misleading
Very disappointed. Yes near the Ganges, (main reason we chose this hotel, as well as it has balcony overlooking the Ganges), but in our experience reality did not match Tripadvisor listing. Specifically: a) online photos of our room look good, reality is very disappointing, b) the balcony overlooking the Ganges exists, but ONLY if you book a room "Ganges view" room, that was not mentioned online. But give hotel its due, we booked 2 nights, checked out after 1 night and they only charged us for 2 nights.

Disappointing room. Great location
I have mixed feelings about this hotel.
They arranged airport collection for me, which required a taxi, a tuktuk and a man to carry my bag, I then repeated this in reverse to get back to the airport. This was a very reasonably priced and necessary service.
First impressions of the interior of the hotel were good, its a courtyard style place which is nicely decorated. However that did not stretch to my room, I did not know that my room did not have an external window which I do not like, I had a window out onto the internal walkway so I either had my curtains open with my room then on full show, or kept them shut, which is dismal. For some reason all the internal lighting is kept on all night, so with the curtains open, you cannot sleep.
Of all the light switches for the room (about 10) I only had 2 working light bulbs, again making it dismal. The bathroom and bedroom had seen better days - the TV barely worked and the wifi was up and down (not the end of the world). I will say that everything was extremely clean and there was always a smell of disinfectant/cleaner around the hotel. Staff were always on hand offering loo rolls and water.
One of my main reasons for booking this hotel was its location and also having a rooftop terrace - sadly this was a building site, work needs doing, granted but because of this they didn't really want you sitting up there, and also I realised that the "monkey protection
" bars had been removed for the work, which meant that when I wanted to sit quietly on the roof with my book, someone had to be up there with me with a stick to keep the monkeys away. With the whole lack of window scenario I would have spent quite a bit of time on the roof, but then felt quite awkward up there, so spent more time in my dimly lit room than I wanted too.
I cannot fault the staff though, they were kind, helpful and always on hand, and my round bed was comfy. I saw inside some of the balcony rooms and they looked much better upkept than my room was - so with a few tweaks, it could easily be much nicer.
I wouldn't tell anyone not to stay here, as it was mostly good, I would use the word "disappointing". But I would say to check what you are getting - they have an email and watsapp, but are not terribly good at responding...

Great location
The hotel is located right on the banks of the Ganges, so the location is great for sightseeing and various ghats on the river.
However, getting to the hotel is quite complicated because you have to walk along small and quite labyrinthine streets. But the hotel staff are very helpful, they picked us up on the main road and brought us our bags to the hotel, same thing at check out.
The size of the room is quite small.
The sheets were always damp, in fact I slept for two nights in my sleeping bag. But I don't think it's a problem of the hotel, but of the city in general, which I found very damp compared to other cities visited in India.

Great stay
My stay at the Dwivedi Hotels Sri Omkar Palace was truly exceptional! The hotel’s prime location right on the ghats offered breathtaking views of the Ganges, especially from the rooftop and my bedroom’s verandah, making every moment serene and unforgettable. The service was outstanding—the hotel arranged a seamless airport pickup and provided porters to carry our bags to the property, which was incredibly helpful. The rooms were spotlessly clean, with no trace of pests like cockroaches, ensuring a comfortable and worry-free stay. Breakfast was simple yet delicious, prepared by a friendly chef and served by warm, welcoming staff who made us feel right at home. I recommend the Sri Omkar Palace.
