Great location, wonderful warm staff

You want to stay here because the location is great, the villas are private, there is a pool, there are good views over the rice paddies, you can eat at the attached restaurant, and especially because the staff are warm, welcoming and extremely helpful.
From the villas, you can walk to the main street of Ubud in less than 30 minutes, but if you rent a scooter, it takes only five. The rooms, which are cleaned daily, are roomy and airy, and they have great views. Each villa is isolated so you have full privacy. And they look out over rice patties. There is also a well-kept pool for cooling down during the hot hours of the day. Near the pool, there’s both a bar and a restaurant.
But best of all is the staff, who ensure that your stay here is comfortable and that you lack for nothing. They have been very helpful with planning (and in resolving an urgent medical situation). For example, they helped us attend Hindu ceremonies that are otherwise off-limits to tourists and arranged other cultural events, like the Kecak dance performance. Would certainly stay here again.

Hidden gem

We stayed at sugars Villas on the recommendation of friends. We had a great time. The owner and his family are very welcoming helpful and friendly. It is a very relaxing and quiet environment with only three villas each with a veranda looking out onto rice paddies and lush vegetation . The owner was tremendously helpful when my husband required emergency medical care as well as organising rides for us into town. We really enjoyed relaxing on the veranda, in the pool , chatting in the eating area as well as participating in local cultural events recommended by the owner and his family.

Family-owned and run private villas with luxurious bathrooms (including enclosed outdoor stone showers) and private terraces with daybeds and dining tables overlooking rice field views located inside a verdant jungle garden, with a pool, bar and restaurant in a traditional-architecture pavilion serving delicious Indonesian and western food, including their famous all-day breakfasts which are popular with the local expat community. Nyoman takes care of you so you feel welcomed like family (inviting to ceremonies, organizing transport and advice)! All available at local prices!

Definitely Coming Back !

This place is fantastic and a true haven in Ubud. Great hospitality, excellent food and cute bungalows. My kids and I loved the pool . The hosts make you feel at home and nothing is a problem . We would recommend this for a couple or for families .

Wonderful slice of paradise

Sugars is a low key, casual place which oozes character. The hosts make you feel welcome. It is almost more like you are their welcome guests than paying customers.
It is not as fancy as some, but I loved it.
Highly recommend.
