peaceful casa

I stayed at Kasa Kandara as the 1st hotel in Sumba after I landed in Waingapu from Lombok. The place has a very good vibe, especially the wooden log cabins. Gave a very local asian vibe. However if you are a nitpick traveller, you must know that the floor will make sound when you walk and walls aint soundproof, especially when its pin drop silence in the night your voice can be heard across cabins and so will you hear theirs. I was fine as was travelling solo. The sit out outside was a nice touch.
The view from the swimming pool is amazing and the mirror glass water bodies in between rice fields are mesmerising.
The breakfast was surprisingly good if I look at the price but very aligned to Indonesian food, which I was completely fine with. A lot of choices if you look at it as a brunch. The coffee was fab.
Their is a backdoor entry to the paddy fields and I was spending almost every pre breakfast walks in the paddy fields chilling with the farmers.
Every evening they will keep some sweet snacks next to the bed, which was a really sweet thing to do.
The only cons I will list down is apart from one reception lady, nobody speaks good English, so sometimes can be frustrating.
And my biggest issue was, during checkout I was told they cannot accept foreign cards for payments. Now this could have been mentioned when I booked directly with them over whatsapp, else I could have booked via other online channels. neither this was mentioned at check in. During checkout if you don't have enough cash, this situation becomes very embarrassing, especially when you don't have an ATM next doo

Top stay, recommended!

Quiet location hotel. Nice and quiet pool with views over the rice fields. Food at the restaurant near the hotel is very good.
The gardens are beautifully landscaped and well maintained. Spacious Bungalow and Seat. Very friendly staff, despite the language barrier they try to help you as best they can.
Only downsides I can think of are the many limescale deposits in the bathroom and the breakfast was not to our taste.

Amazing place in Waingapu

Best possiible option in east sumba. Amazing rooms, huge pool (20m), great food in restaurant. And in backdrop rice fields. Everythinng is super clean, comfy beds. Staff is really doing everything for your comfort. For daily trips they are preparing great launch boxes.

New, still to learn.

Beautiful hotel in a unique location on the edge of Waingapu. Very nice swimming pool with relaxing chairs. Fresh water and a snack every day, which was well taken care of. We rate the restaurant less, especially during the 2nd evening, all dishes came at intervals. The English in the restaurant was also very poor. Quality of food was good.
