Highly recommended as a family B&B

John warmly welcomed us as usual and gave us valuable excursion tips. Great view from the cozy room, delicious breakfast. Just always great!

Perfect two night stay

My wife and I stayed for two nights in late September. Our room was very comfortable with plenty of room. The house is located on a hill looking over the Bandon River. The lounge/living room area is tastefully decorated and an excellent place to unwind and enjoy the beautiful river view. I cannot say enough great things about the host of the house. John was knowledgeable about the area and he even volunteered to give us a ride to our dinner reservations in the village. We walked back from town, it is about a 15 minute walk, it is slightly uphill and we needed our cell phone flash light to help guide us up the dark road. Breakfast was excellent as well. We loved our stay and highly recommend the Rocklands House B & B.

Pros and Cons

I was hesitant to write this review because I really don't like being negative but feel compelled to be completely honest to fellow travelers. Let's start with the positive...the view from this B&B is outstanding. John, the host, is so hospitable and even gave our party of 4 a ride into town. He also left out some Bailey's and Whiskey to enjoy a night cap. Very nice touch. John is a wonderful man and has great knowledge about the area. The staff (Katie and her sister) were delightful and the breakfast was very good.
And now for constructive criticism...getting to this B&B is a little tricky, sharp turns and then going up a hill. Walking into town would not be for the weary.
We had the family room (1 Double and a Twin) which was very small for 2 people. It did have a nice side view of the water. Our friends had another room that overlooked the other side of the home - no water view. Our rooms and the home itself could use a little TLC and perhaps a deep cleaning and updating.
I did get a glimpse of one of the bedrooms with direct water views. This room looked much brighter and would recommend this over the rooms we had.
Rocklands House has so much potential with just some TLC. So in a nutshell, 5 Stars to John, Katie and the amazing view.

Highly recommend, lovely views

We would highly recommend this lovely hillside B&B which is a short walk from town, offering beautiful river views, a very relaxing ambience and very good breakfasts. The host, John, is charming with lots of local information and stories. The common room is beautiful and tgere is a fridge for guests.
