A family farm that gets everything right
We stayed five days (family of 4) at Maso Planat during ski season and the memories we're taking home are so good that we're sure we'll be back.
It's a small farm run by a family that has been there their whole lives, where they've made room for several holiday apartments that they maintain and look after themselves. The help, care and attention they give their guests is fantastic.
Right now they have several cows, plus chickens and rabbits. As they mentioned to us, they'll soon be getting sheep and alpacas to do some guided walks with during the coming summer.
The apartment we stayed in is quite large, with two bedrooms each with their own bathroom and double bed, a small living room with two sofas, a TV and a two-person sauna, and a kitchen with a dining table and plenty of space. There's also a balcony at the front of the farm and a terrace at the back of the building where you can step directly out into the fields.
The kitchen is well equipped, though we did miss having a small microwave to heat things up quickly.
The nearest supermarket is about 400 metres away, though we never actually used it since we ate lunch on the slopes and for dinner we went out to one of the nearby restaurants (there are several good ones within walking distance).
Breakfast is brought to your apartment every morning on a small trolley at whatever time you ask for, and consists of local produce (cheeses, cured meats, eggs, etc.). Some afternoons they also put on a little snack spread in their outdoor area, where you can grab something to eat and drink around small bonfires. We also took home a couple of vacuum-packed salamis that they make on the farm itself (they have several things available, so it's worth asking them).
Inside the building there's a very comfortable room to leave your skis, change your footwear, and boot warmers to make sure everything is dry and ready the next morning. At the entrance to the apartment there was space to leave your shoes and put on some slippers, so you weren't tracking water or dirt inside.
Getting to the slopes is very easy. At the nearby rental shop, one of the largest and less than a 5-minute walk away, you get a discount for staying here. The Piz Surega lift is a 5-minute walk; you do have to go up and down a small hill to get there, but on the way back in the afternoon it's possible to ski almost to the front door via runs 11 or 12, though it takes a bit of skill.
One thing to be careful about in winter: the access to the farm is up a small slope, so winter tyres are a must (and chains, just in case). In our case we didn't realise that the rental car didn't actually have the winter tyres we'd been assured it had... and when it was time to leave we couldn't get up the slope. Fortunately several members of the farm family came to our rescue, helped us clear the ramp, put on the chains, and within 20 minutes we were on our way home.
We will be back for sure!

Highly recommend
Highly recommend! We booked accommodation for a group of 27. Davide was very friendly and did his best to accommodate such a large group. The place itself was stunning with spacious rooms, clean facilities, and beautiful surroundings. Would definitely return! Thanks a mil!

Sentirsi a casa
Abbiamo trascorso dei giorni fantastici nel Maso Planat, una famiglia speciale ti accoglie e ti coccola nel vero senso della parola..sentirsi a casa é il termine esatto...quando vai via hai le lacrime agli occhi...il Maso é stupendo, parco giochi per bambini dove non manca proprio nulla, appartamenti arredati in stile. Pulizia 10, posizione a due passi dal centro di San Cassiano e vicinissimo all'impianto di risalita di Piz Sorega....ritorneremo a riabbracciare i nostri nuovi amici..

Abbiamo trascorso una settimana bellissima grazie anche alla gentilezza ed alla disponibilità dei proprietari, persone squisite che ci hanno fatto sentire come a casa. Camere ben arredate e pulite, appartamenti in eccellente posizione vicino gli impianti. Torneremo sicuramente. Pierpaolo Re

Tutto perfetto!!
Il Maso è stata una bella sorpresa a pochi passi dalle piste. Appartamento impeccabile, tutto nuovo e molto accogliente. I bambini hanno apprezzato molto la mansarda in legno. Un grazie speciale alla signora Sabrina che ci coccolava ogni giorno con latte, uova e pane fresco.
