never again Hotel Fonzari

unfriendly welcome, the online booking had not yet been confirmed at the hotel-we were sent away, even though we already had a confirmation from the hotel online, no offer to wait in the lobby; you are also not greeted by the reception as a guest, only the cleaning staff was friendly; price/performance is out of proportion, room like a hospital, the pool outdated, food in the restaurant bad; every service like beach use, parking...has to be paid for extra daily; we are not the only guests who have complained;

Hotel in a good location

From June 16 to 19, we spent a short vacation at Hotel Fonzari. When we wanted to check in at the reception at 2:00 PM, we were informed that the junior suite we had booked would not be available until 3:00 PM, but we could already enter the parking garage with our car at 2:30 PM. However, this was only possible after a longer wait at the entrance.
After 3:00 PM, we moved into our suite on the third floor. This one was very old and worn out with a view of a multi-story building across the street.
The mattresses were too hard for our taste, and the outdated bathroom lacked shelf space and a cosmetic mirror.
There were sufficient wardrobes and dressers, and the apartment also had a refrigerator and a safe.
The studio was cleaned every day.
The pool on the 7th floor is also outdated and not suitable for swimming due to the shallow water depth. What is truly positive to mention is the breathtaking view from the pool terrace over the city, including the Basilica of Sant'Eufemia. Dinner (we had booked half board) was served on the terrace on the 7th floor, and from there, the wonderful view was also available.
The dinner, which was served by friendly staff, was good average, as was the breakfast, where there is still room for improvement regarding the selection of fruits and juices (machine juices). The hotel has sun umbrellas and loungers at the beach section "Tivoli" at "Spiaggia Costa Azzurra" (about a 15-minute walk to the west).
The usage fee is 30 euros per day, which we found completely acceptable because the beach is very clean and well-maintained.
Included in the fee are also a beach towel per person and a key for the shower and restroom. Conclusion: The hotel is very centrally located near the sea and the old town, and the staff is consistently attentive and friendly.
After a much-needed general renovation, we would like to return. Great vacation Great hotel!

Room 1☆

The hotel is very well located. Unfortunately, the loungers on the beach are extra to pay for.
Currently 35 euros/day.
Very nice staff and good breakfast.
The room we booked did not meet our expectations at all. It was small, dark, and there was no control for the air conditioning/heating at all.
The view was actually nonexistent.

It’s not worth the money

I’m sure this hotel was great +20 years ago! Now it’s just falling apart.
