Wonderful experience

I was really happy with my experience; despite some issues with the hotel regarding modernity, I believe the service provided by the employees and during the various dining services is exceptional. There is a lot to improve, but it is a unique experience that must be done.

The beach is wonderful.

The Gran Hotel la Playa has an enviable location, right on the sea with a well-kept beach and clear water.
And it is truly 2 steps from the center!
The service staff is very, very kind: the floor cleaning staff, the dining room staff, and the pool and beach staff.
Unfortunately, the property is not up to par.
The room I occupied needs work: bathroom too small, worn-out furniture, and indecent upholstery (stained chairs and curtains).
The dining options also need to be reviewed: the breakfast is not even remotely up to 4-star standards. If I am staying in a place for €100 per person per night, I shouldn't be asked for an extra charge for scrambled eggs or orange juice.
You can also notice a lack of attention from the ownership to details and maintenance: they need to install screens, because there is an invasion!
In a place where water costs €4.50/liter, you shouldn't see mosquitoes squashed on the curtains.
At the moment, the price does not reflect the service received. With a major renovation, it could return to being a true 4-star hotel. A place that remains a dream.

TOTAL DISASTER

I would say that the exact term to define this facility is EMBARRASSING!!!! booked in January pointing out that there would be a disabled person, we were told that they were particularly sensitive to the disability issue given that the owner is also in a wheelchair. We arrive and the first terrible surprise, the room lacked adequate sanitary fixtures, in the shower we had to provide a chair ourselves to be able to take a shower, the platform on the beach after we requested additional pieces three times we provided for taking and assembling them ourselves, the chair to go into the water was absolutely unsuitable. The catering is shameful, I am attaching photos because I think they say more than many words, I only add that they even charge for water, 4-STAR HOTEL only for the costs, I invite you to consult the prices in the menu that I am attaching and I hope that someone sends the necessary checks at least for the facilities used by the disabled

Complete abandonment

Poorly maintained hotel, dirty environments, rooms swarming with mosquitoes, and terrible quality food. Kind staff, but unfortunately the services are terrible

Nothing grand about this hotel

The positive thing about this hotel is the location on the beach and access to beach chairs for guests. That's about it.
The rooms are rather small and in serious need of renovation, but they are clean. The balcony is so tiny it can hardly fit two people.
Most of the staff don't speak English and are not interested in supporting their guests. Service is not a word they have any understanding of.
Cannot recommend this hotel at all, do your best to find another one if you are planning on going to Sperlonga. I cannot understand why the hotel is called Grand Hotel La Playa, there is nothing grand about it at all.
