Beautiful and peaceful masseria in the south of Puglia
We stayed there for a few days early September to visit the south of Puglia. The place is beautiful and very peaceful. The rooms are simple but very comfortable. The host, Elda, was charming, very welcoming as well as the staff who prepared a delicious breakfast with local products. Elsa gave us excellent recommendations of places to visit, beaches and restaurants. As we were leaving very early on our departure day she kindly prepared a delicious packed breakfast for us without us asking for it. The place has a lovely swimming pool with a beautiful view and is close to beautiful beaches. We enjoyed our stay very much

The wonderful beauty
Wonderful farm! It seems to be family, all helpful and very kind. Rich breakfast, with local and genuine products, all homemade. Not to mention the dinners: superb, served in the court, with the scent of jasmine... Thanks to Mr. Luigi for his courtesy and hospitality, and for his excellent wine! We will definitely be back. Un pallino è anche troppo!
As I always do, the Rating I offer to friends in the community has as its first parameter the cost of the reviewed facility. In this case it is equal to 250.00 euros per day, with breakfast, for two adults and a 14-year-old boy.
Arrived at the Masseria, after telephone contact, we are kindly allowed to store our luggage in the room, also because the structure that consists of only 7 rooms was practically empty, only one other room was occupied by a kind Venetian couple.
I would like to say immediately that the structure is pretty, restored respecting the tradition of the Apulian country houses (net of a small palm tree -we are not in Miami- in the pool area that at sight is really a punch in the stomach).
The room assigned to us consisted of two rooms: in the first was arranged the double bed, in the second room two sofa beds. The furnishings although of little economic value were overall pleasant. The bathroom was really small but what immediately left us stunned is that it was devoid of shampoo and bubble bath that we were forced to buy later in a supermarket in Ugento since the girl present in the structure to question answered that we had to get them (sic!). The same, always on my express request, replied that it was instead planned to change daily bath towels (again, we are talking about a cost of living of 250.00 per day!).
Another critical issue, not insignificant, was the excessive noise of the air conditioners that prevented their use during the night. In the mini bar there were only two bottles of water, one still, the other sparkling. I really appreciated the use of glass bottles.
Breakfast: I agree with the choice to offer only local products (as indeed is in use in most farms in Salento), but this can not mean setting up a really poor buffet and not provide for example the possibility of requesting an espresso coffee (only mocha) or especially a very banal cappuccino (only hot milk). I found it really unpleasant that the croissants or morsels were split in half. Not to mention the salty part, only friselle to dress with tomatoes and slices cut very badly of ham and capocollo. As for the service, omitting to tell specific episodes so as not to create difficulties for any of the employees, I say that it is not possible to entrust the management of the entire structure to the maids, without taking anything away from those who carry out this job, I only say that you need to have a culture of hospitality that I repeat a cleaning person, however hard he tries, can not have. Two women a day welcome patrons, prepare and offer breakfast and clean rooms! I understand that the goal of the property is to optimize revenues, but all this should take place without giving the customer the unpleasant feeling of being an unfortunate chicken to pluck!
The inadequacy of the structure emerged in all its gravity at Check-out. Leaving aside that we were not granted late Check-out despite no new arrivals (the circumstance was reported to me by the waitress), I was charged for the payment of water and especially the daily change of towels. I categorically refused to recognize these amounts, since we did not find any notice in the room informing us that the use of the minibar was for a fee (the same waitress admitted that it was a forgetfulness of her colleague) and above all that on the first day I was expressly told that there was a daily change of bath towels.
I said before that the culture of hospitality is missing. What is more serious is that good manners was also lacking: at 11.00 o’clock we were finishing to vacate the room and we found ourselves the maid with goblin in hand who “invited” us to leave and who opened one of the two doors of the room with her keys.
Recommendation to the owners to return to using the structure of their goodness as a holiday home since the art of hospitality is none of their business.

Beautiful family friendly stay
We absolutely loved our few nights at Masseria Caposella travelling as two families with young children (one with a 3yo the other with a 3 month old).
Elda was such a big help in arranging our stay and provided incredible service while we were there. We enjoyed a group cooking class, morning yoga (at cost) and evening dinners in the central courtyard which really made our stay. The food is incredible and being able to eat out the front of our rooms was a real treat with kids sleeping (they also prepared my daughter a beautiful early meal!).
The breakfasts were delicious and rotated enough for us to try something new each day. The only thing we struggled with was only having a small mini fridge which made it hard to self cater during the day though we made it work.
Highly recommend this being one of many Puglia stops to allow you to really take it slow and spend days by the pool.
