Excellent Hotel; Full of Freebies and Amenities; Onsen was amazing
Normally my family and I stayed at Dormy in various cities, so we decided to try Onyado Nono for the first time at Beppu. Surprisingly, this hotel exceeded my expectations from the start.
The atmosphere once we stepped past hotel door was significantly elegant compared to Dormy. Tatami-area all around the hotel really made us feel premium. Decoration was neat and nice everywhere, including ceiling and wall.
Room [Triple room] itself was nice with ample space and good layout. Body soap and Shampoo by Pola were amazing. Staff provided service with great care and fluently in English.
Onsen was excellent with so many options. If you were lucky [or patient enough], you could get into private onsen with 7 choices. Each had different atmospheres and types of water. I had a chance getting into one in the morning, which was normally less crowded than at night, and it felt so good being alone and quiet in there.
Probably best things were free ice cream, free yogurt drink, free drinks and free ramen at night. Maybe it might be better to start free ramen at 9:30pm just like other Dormy instead of 10:00pm.
All in all, I loved the experience staying here. This hotel was so good and fully equipped that, once my family and I entered in the evening of each day, we did not need to step out for any food/snacks/desserts in nearby convenient store [Lawson was just next building].
Will definitely look for this hotel chain in next cities we visited.

It was an interesting concept where guests remove their shoes and place them in lockers at the lobby. The entire hotel, from the lobby to the guest room corridors, was covered with tatami mats, creating a cozy and authentic Japanese atmosphere.
Check-in was fast and efficient, and the room size was very decent. We were also pleasantly surprised to receive complimentary cup noodles.
The onsen was one of the highlights of our stay. The public bath was spacious enough and never felt overcrowded. In addition, there were seven private onsen baths available for guests. Free ice cream was provided on the 13th floor, which is also where the onsen is located.
Laundry facilities are available on the 7th floor. The washing machines are free to use, and guests only need to pay for the dryer.
A complimentary noodle supper is served daily from 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM, which was a nice touch after a long day of sightseeing.
Overall, I had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. The unique tatami concept, excellent onsen facilities, and thoughtful complimentary services made for a comfortable and memorable experience.

This was the most expensive hotel, and the fourth Dormy, on our trip but it left us quite underwhelmed. We don't think it is as clean as it could be. When I asked for ice at the reception I was told there was no ice, later for find there is an ice machine of level 7? Laundry was a positive with plenty of machines. The onsen was good too. YMMV

A super busy hotel with many tourists. Many with families. These families can be quite loud. Some groups have no manners. The staff does a great job, dispite having to work with rude tourists. The room was nice old school Japanese. Everything is pretty low in the room. Beds are firm, yet comfortable. The onsen area on the 13th floor is next level! Huge sauna, many baths and free treats when you are done. Steps from the JR station. I highly recommend this hotel. Just be prepared for it to be somewhat crowded. Also, no shoes allowed in entire hotel. You put them in lockers when you enter. I would definitely stay here again.

Every aspect was superb. I was sceptical about the high ratings but after my stay, I get it - everything from the amenities to breakfast to the thoughtful design of the rooms to the location was top-notch. I was sad to leave. Hope to be back soon!
