There were hot springs in the public baths on the top floor and basement, and there was a pool, and the food was a Viking with moderate contents. I think it's very reasonable from a price point of view.

One night in Jozankei

Stayed here with 2 friends for our ist night , booked it as it was cheap price with early booking.
Room was clean and very old hat .
Washing basing had cracks in it .
Also lots of wear & tear throughout the hotel from the room window, to the huge old style hot spring public baths on lower levels ... Also only very short time frame for the rooftop open air onsen ?
The buffet dinner was very disappointing as
was the buffet breakfast with lots of rude people pushing & shoving like animals?
The food was the worst we've eaten in 4 trips to Japan.
However in saying that the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Also I must admit the rooms view suits its name
10/10 .
I'm not sure if we would stay here again though.
If on a budget it's ok ...I think
As a tip the family mart , Lawson are only 4 minutes walk and cheaper on drinks and snacks rather then the hotel lobby shop ...
They seriously need to give the old place a makeover ?

Great hotel in a scenic area

Very pleasant onsen hotel in Jozankei. It's been there a while, but the rooms are clean and spacious. We had a very comfortable stay. The main onsen was really good, it had both hot and cold baths, hot sauna room and cold room, and an open air onsen bath... great option in winter time!
The hotel provides free shuttle bus from Sapporo Station, just need to call them to reserve your seat.
We walked from the hotel to Jozankei Bridge, Jozankei Gensen Park, and Futami Suspension Bridge. Scenic area.
There's also the buffet breakfast and dinner, really good spread, Japanese and international cuisine. Fresh seafood, beef, salads, and traditional Japanese foods.

定山渓ビューホテルの親子滞在記

母と親子旅行で伺いました。ホテル自体は古いようですが、それも味がありよかった。またとても立派なソファや彫像品がいたるところにおいてあり、清潔に保たれていたと思います。
広くてエレベーターも多数あるので特に不都合はありませんでしたが、足が悪い方は歩いたり移動したりに広いがゆえに少し疲れるかもしれません。
※私の母（80歳）は、しっかり歩けるので問題なかったです。
また、定山渓ビューホテル宿泊者は、定山渓イルミネーションを見に行くことができます。大きくはありませんが、ちょっと散歩がてらごはんの前後に行くととても気持ちが和みます。
お風呂は天空風呂のみ利用となってしまったのですがゆっくりできました。
ごはんは夜・朝ともにブッフェタイプなので、混んでいる時間帯だと１つ１つとるために時間を要してしまったので４としていますが大満足でした。
I visited with my mother on a family trip. The hotel itself seems old, but that's what makes it so charming. There were also beautiful sofas and statues scattered throughout, and the hotel was kept clean.
It was spacious and had many elevators, so it wasn't a problem, but those with mobility issues might find the large space tiring to walk around.
*My mother (80 years old) can walk well, so it wasn't a problem.
Guests staying at Jozankei View Hotel can also go see the Jozankei illuminations. It's not large, but a short stroll before or after dinner is very relaxing.
We were only able to use the sky bath, but it was relaxing.
Both dinner and breakfast were buffet style, so it took a while to get each dish during busy times, which is why I gave it a 4. However, I was very satisfied.
