Best Hotel in Plettenbachbay

I have been there with my Friends, it is a Beautiful Hotel with Pool and Spa. I loved the People working there, very sympathic. Also a very security Place and the Buffet . I would like to come again !

The owner is a psycho!

I live in the UK and visited Margate uk for a martial arts event with my family.
Unfortunately at this event my son was injured and required A&E. I hurriedly went online to book a hotel and booked this one, thinking it was Margate UK.
I realised my mistake and quickly requested a refund.
This was refused and I left a poor rating on booking.com.
Here is where my main problem lies…..
I got a call from the owner, who then hung up.
This was quickly followed by a very offensive text message.
I then received a barrage of vile messages on WhatsApp as shown in the photos.
The man is a psycho!!!
Following a CT scan my son was discharged from hospital battered and bruised but thankfully no lasting damage

We’re truly sorry you went through this. The property changed hands after your booking, and the behaviour you describe came from the previous owner—completely unacceptable. I felt the same after meeting him. We hope your son has fully recovered. If you ever visit Margate, South Africa, we’d love to make it right with a complimentary night in our renovated guesthouse.

weird vibe

Danny (the owner) was, at first, very understanding & empathetic with regard to my needs & changes made to my booking.
We arrived at the property very late (after 22.00) and he greeted us in the rain- which I am ever so grateful for.
My issues are as follows:
- parking is quite difficult. if we traveled with a bigger SUV we would not have fitted in
- outdated aircon which I could not operate myself (Danny helped us put it on at a late hour, thanks again)
- no milk in the room so expect to have black tea/coffee/hot chocolate instead
- breakfast is only served at 9.00 (although he did serve us a little earlier) we did experience “grumpiness” with regard to feeding my 2 kids at the lappa around 8.30 as we were asked to give him “room to get the place ready so it can be ready for us at 9” I apologized and was given a sarcastic “thank you very much” as a response. remembering checkout is at 10 so u have to feed yourself and your family in an hour to be ready to checkout on time
- checking out is a horrible experience as we watched his wife check for stains on the linen, towels are counted, remote controls are counted.
- my family and I have been to many Bed & Breakfasts that are owned by people who live on the property. These owners lack friendliness. We tried to make conversation but felt ultimately uncomfortable and unwanted.
- my advice: if you’re not passionate about hospitality & guest service, don’t own a B&B
I expected so much more courtesy & general politeness. Disappointing to say the least.

We’re truly sorry your stay felt uncomfortable. Since your visit, the property has changed hands and undergone a full refresh—larger parking bays, updated air-con, and in-room amenities. We’ve also switched to a self-catering model, so breakfast service is no longer an issue. If you return, we’d love to host you for a complimentary night to show you the improvements firsthand.

Home away from home

Had a fabulous stay at Song Of the Whales B&B. Hosts Danny and Angela went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Location is fantastic with an awesome sea view - easily accessible to main roads and beaches. Close to shops and restaurants. Safe parking inside property. Pool and jacuzzi on site - extremely clean and kid friendly. Highly recommended for your next holiday down the south coast.
