Great visit despite the flooding
We visited Assegai over the terrible Cape storms over the long weekend of September 2023. Our car was stuck at a wedding venue outside of Swellendam due to the flooding in the area and Jackie and Andre graciously offered to not only assist with towing our car, but that the car can stay on the farm until we can get it fixed. The accommodation was great, clean and the surroundings just breathtaking. Jackie and Andre are attentive hosts and who cares and makes you feel extra welcome. We will definitely visit again!

Perfect stay for friends
Had a wonderful stay in Assegai House, Andre and Jackie were wonderful hosts. Always available to assist with recommendations.
The archery was a hit with everyone and we all had a great time hiking.
The house was clean and had everything we needed. There was plenty of wood for braaiing and the inside fire place.

Personal and unique getaway
Andre and Jackie are truly great hosts who creates a relaxed chilled environment. The archery was so lekker, we had so many laughs with Andre, making us feel comfortable in doing something that none of us had done before.
COVID19 protocols was at top of the list of priorities making us feel safe.
The location is something that we cannot get over, if you want a getaway that is truly in the mountains but still close to Cape Town, then Assegaai Rest Camp is the best place.

The Ultimate Getaway :))
We have visited these Tipi's on more than one occassion and this is simply because it is the ultimate escape for us both physically and emotionally. Being in these mountains one is surrounded by beauty, peace and complete silence and it always reminds one of what is really important in life. It is the ultimate getaway for kids, adults, dogs, the lot!
All the COVID protocal that needed to be in place, were in place and each tipi has it's own facilities with locks that latch. They were clean and well kept.
Owners, Jackie and Andre are always there to assist and have always made our stay more than enjoyable.
WE LOVE THIS PLACE! Nice to have a beer round the fire with mates after a fun filled day.
Anyone looking for a new and unique experience; anyone with children looking for an adventure; any hiker looking for the ultimate mountain's to climb then this would be THE BEST DESTINATION.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! NO COVID19 PROTOCOL TO SPEAK OF AND NO ENFORCEMENT OF SAFETY RULES FOR GUESTS
Our weekend getaway at this establishment was nothing short of disastrous.
Firstly, do not be misled by their advertising, its by far not a peaceful getaway. Its noiser than living in cape town central. Nothing more than a standard public camp site Owners, nor a representative present on premises to enforce the rules stated on check in.
Secondly, the "private ablutions" they mention are not private at all. They just say that to avoid having to send in a cleaning service. No locks on the ablutions so you have to clean other guests filth before you can use them. Absolutely disgusting
They advertise pet friendly accommodation and advise on the rules regarding dogs on leads. But due to owners lack of supervision our dogs and ourselves were attacked on a trail walk by other guests dogs that were off lead. Eventually when the owners replied to WhatsApp correspondence hour later, we were told that they are away for the weekend and therefore cannot deal with the situation.
So to everyone looking for a nice, safe, quiet place to take your pets along for a weekend away. There are plenty other more suitable places to spend your money.
We wont be back.

After re-reading this appalling review we are both saddened and disappointed. We both pride ourselves on our customer service; as shown by our ongoing followers and 5 star reviews.
The inaccuracy of events and embroidered stories continue to amaze us, and this happening only after they got home after a 3 night stay. As owners of a pet friendly establishment we take notifications of a ‘dog attack’ to another dog and owner very seriously. We continue to follow the right route by requesting photos of the injuries as well as the Vet and Dr accounts, for consideration to our lawyers, and still none received.
We have taken up the inaccuracies with Trip Advisor, and have sent them a full and accurate record of both sides of the story.
