Be Aware of the Fuller Lake Motel

I was a guest at the Fuller Lake Motel from January 14 - February 10, 2026, while on business in the Chemainus, BC area on Vancouver Island. Let me share with you my first-hand experience before I checkout this morning on February 11, 2026.
I requested towel service from housekeeping. The housekeeper replied "No, I have to leave, but I'll make a note of it" Typically, motels/hotels will provide weekly service for businessman and working crews. In need of fresh and clean towels, I used my own red and blue bath mats and towels that I purchased from Walmart. (see attached images).
I requested housekeeping to clean-up the bathroom stain from the previous guest when I originally checked in." (see attached image"). However, housekeeping did absolutely nothing about it, In fact, the Owner - Sean Oliver replied "We are also looking into whatever you had spilled in the bathroom to stain the floor red".
I spoke on the telephone with the Owner - Sean Oliver regarding weekly cleaning of my room. Sean agreed to clean my room either on February 5-6 between the times of 10AM-6PM. Upon returning to my room after 6PM on February 6, 2026, my garbage basket was overflowing. I had no clean bed sheets or pillow cases and only 1 sheet of toilet paper remaining on the holder. (see attached image).
The scariest experience I witnessed at the Fuller Lake Motel, no doubt was the rodents in the parking lot. I wasn't able to recognize at times if it was a mouse or a rat.

Parking was easy.
Good location.
Some items needed updating or replacing, e.g: shower curtain.
Kitchen is too basic with limited utensils.
Friendly and helpful staff.

I think it was a good place to stay. It's a bit loud near the highway but the window is very good at blocking the sound. Better than you'd expect for the price.

there was nothing special about my stay....my expectations were low. It's an extremely old motel with key locks. It was clean and warm. It had an extremely comfortable bed and every night it was quiet. That's all i ask for.
i'm happy with my stay.
