Near new hotel in convenient location
I enjoyed my two nights at the Asia Hotel. The owner was very helpful and it was nice to stay in a modern well-designed room. The bus stop a few metres from the door is served by several routes which will take you to the marvelous Almaty metro system.

Pls avoid this hotel at all costs - Upon arrival at the hotel they told me room is not available anymore !
One of my worst experiences of booking through Agoda - this is the first time in my entire 20 years travelling overseas , using hotels around the world, that I have been declined the room which I have booked via my credit card ! Hotel staff (an elderly lady with specs) claimed that there is no show - when i appeared in front of the hotel & I have proof from yandex taxi receipt that I arrived at the hotel that night. Because of this unprofessional behavior, I have been forced to book another hotel with higher price & forced to stand outside the hotel to search for other nearby hotels . She did not even bother to assist to find another room for me or to assist me in calling other nearby hotels as replacement. Totally disgusted . Pls avoid this hotel at all costs

Stay away from this hotel!
I decided to spend a few days in almaty to see the other beauty of central asia and found this hotel on booking.com with positive reviews. The location was not that good being a few kilometers from the city center. I still gave it a try but it turned out to be a wrong decision. The hotel had so many lapses which are beyond forgiveable.
Upon inquiring, The receptionist suggested a tour agency for a day tour to big almaty lake. To cut the long story short, this tour company was a scam. I cannot detail any further since this was not part of their services but they should have recommended at least a trusted one.
That was just the beginning of the nightmare. Before i left I put on my dnd sign because i have some valuables inside. The room didnt have any safe. I even made a no cleaning gesture to the housekeeper but to my surprise, part of the room was already made when i got back.
On the day of my check out, a part of the ceiling fell in the bathroom. Good thing it was made of light material and i was not in the shower when it happened.
When i was packing my things, i noticed that one chocolate bar was missing inside the fridge. I was sure that it was complete when i left because i placed them myself and counted them. The housekeeper allegedly did not see any chocolate bars but receptionist offered to have it replaced. The housekeeper then brought my shirt which she said was accidentally taken during make up room service. So if i hadnt complained about the missing chocolate my shirt wouldnt have been returned to me. That was already sketchy. That time i was already hysterical and stressed the importance of honoring the privacy sign. Aside from that, the shower drain was not draining properly and bathroom socket was loose that youd think it could start a fire if you plug any of your device. Before i left, i made sure that receptionist checked my room so i am clear and that the only charge i will see on my credit card statement is only 2 nights worth of hell.
Due to language barriers, there was no point of asking for any explanation for all these. I just want to advise all other guests to Stay away from this hotel. It doesnt hurt to pay extra at other hotels when you can get better service.

Nice hotel in almaty
Very nice hotel, with new and clean rooms, including all facilities
Very kind and helpful staff, they helped me to arrange all transfers and excursions
The location is a little boring, not a lot of entertainment around..although with a short taxi ride or few bus stops you can reach all bars and restaurants
The price is honest in comparison to the great service you get
