Pura Vida again and again!
Very welcoming accommodation with good local breakfast, clean rooms, good and quiet air conditioning. Nice pool in the afternoon for us alone. Super boat tour made

Gloria fantastic hostess
Arrived late afternoon. Some food by the water at a good restaurant with a sweet dog by our side. Next day with a guide a tour done in and around the national park by boat and on foot. Especially from the boat seen many animals: different birds, otters, different species of monkeys etc. Unfortunately it started to tease mega when we wanted to start a hike in the park. Walked for more than 2 hours but didn't see many animals except for a Ara couple. In the evening a night walk done. Despite the guide doing his best to detect animals, it has remained with a sloth hanging in a tree and seen some special insects. We had a great time at Gloria's. Hostess Gloria is fantastic. The accommodation is small but fine and is kept well clean. She has advised us well which tours we could do etc. The town is small and there is not much to do. 2 days there is enough I thought. Cabanas Daneysha I can definitely recommend.

Fantastic accommodation with private tours in a wonderful, friendly setting.
Gloria & Sergio are wonderful hosts. They kept in touch via WhatsApp and sorted everything for us, including a driver from San Jose and the boat to San Francisco. They run their own tours, so you are guaranteed a small group. Sergio is very knowledgeable about the wildlife and spotted so much for us. We saw green turtles laying eggs and spotted a plethora of wildlife on the canal tour in the national park the next morning. After the tour, Sergio dropped us off at the park office at Tortuguero to walk the Jaguar Trail & to visit Tortuguero, picking us up later.
The rooms are clean, comfortable and with everything you need. Breakfast was delicious. We borrowed a kayak to take our own tour and did some walks from the door. We didn't have time to enjoy the pool.
San Francisco is a small, super-friendly village with a supermarket, bars and restaurants. We saw monkeys, snakes and lots of birds whilst walking in the area.

Take cash to pay! They told us they accepted credit cards but didn't when we came to pay. There is no ATM in the area.

Perfect place for turtle maker.
Great place to stay if you want to do turtle spawning activities, visit to turtle keeper, canals....
Next to tortoise but without the burden of the village.
Gloria and Sergio made our lives easier, we let ourselves recommend and did not fail, everything went just as we were told.
Both the visit to the spawning and the canals, explaining everything, informing and helping us.
We took all the activities with them.
They are 100% professionals.
Breakfast is also first rate.
Thanks for everything to Sergio, PURA VIDA, and Gloria.

A real Pura Vida experience with Gloria and Sergio
We had the pleasure of spending three unforgettable nights at Cabanas Daneysha and can highly recommend the property! Gloria and Sergio run the cabanas with a lot of heart and passion, and you feel welcome from the first moment. The breakfast Gloria conjures up every morning is delicious, and the rooms are spotlessly clean and ideal for a relaxing stay (Pro: Brand new quiet air conditioning in the room!).
Of particular note is the beautiful garden where our children could play while we enjoyed the peace and quiet. Sergio is a fantastic guide – we took him on two great tours: one to the turtles and an early morning tour through the canals of the national park. He speaks both Spanish and English and was very friendly to the children, which made the trips even more enjoyable.
The location of the cabanas is also ideal. From the lodge you can easily hike to the Cerro lookout, and by public boat you are in Tortuguero in no time. San Francisco, the small village where the cabanas are located, is pleasantly quiet and offers the opportunity to get in touch with the locals – away from the big tourism. We always met nice people here in some sodas and bars, although there was hardly anything going on.
Tortuguero itself is generally worth a visit. We saw an impressive variety of animals and were literally eye to eye with caimans, monkeys and a variety of birds. Green macaws, turtles, sloths and much more have also accompanied us on our tours – the nature experiences were simply breathtaking! That nature is appreciated and protected by the Ticcos impressed us deeply.
If you want to experience real Pura Vida, Gloria and Sergio are the place to be. A little tip: Knowledge of Spanish is beneficial to enjoy the full experience. For us it was the perfect time, and we would love to come back!
