Avoid EKOR ELEGANCE HOTEL if you want freedom and a luxury hotel experience.
My recent stay at EKOR ELEGANCE HOTEL in Famagusta was an absolute nightmare and a complete departure from the relaxing vacation I envisioned. Here's why:
Discrimination & Unreasonable Rules: Upon arrival, my friend (who is gay) was forcibly separated from me despite being a guest in a double room. This discriminatory policy wasn't advertised anywhere and resulted in a ridiculous 15-minute visit limit for him.
Hidden Costs & Missing Essentials: To add insult to injury, I was double-charged for the room even though I paid with a debit card on Booking.com which I had to sort out with my bank after paying the hotel at reception.
The advertised breakfast turned out to be a misleading sham with no gluten-free or vegan options, rendering it useless for people with allergies despite paying for a hotel with breakfast included so that I did not have to worry, I found myself going hungry with only a black coffee for breakfast and they did not care when I asked for alternatives.
Uncomfortable & Unhealthy Rooms: My room itself was a disaster. It looks good on first approach, until you start using it and you realise that things are installed incorrectly. The window wouldn't open properly, the air conditioning was ineffective due to a thick duvet, and their "fix" for a broken window involved removing a screw, making it unsafe. To top it all off, a foul odor emanating from the bathroom plumbing permeated the entire room.
Creepy & Intimidating Atmosphere: The hotel felt more like a prison than a relaxing getaway. Excessive CCTV cameras on every floor and outside rooms made you feel constantly monitored. The staff was unwelcoming and offered no interaction to enhance the stay. Guests were even scrutinized by office staff upon entering the cafe, creating a very intimidating atmosphere.
False Advertising & Inconvenience: The advertised breakfast turned out to be a stale and neglected buffet in a conference room, not the inviting cafe shown in the photos. The location itself was a major drawback.
While conveniently close to CityMall, it was far from the beach and the main attractions (including the High Street). To make matters worse, construction work outside my window created unbearable noise and dust, worsening my asthma.
Overall: This hotel was a complete disaster because they do not care for the customer, only about their rules.
Avoid EKOR ELEGANCE HOTEL if you want freedom and a luxury hotel experience.
The service is appalling, the advertised amenities are misleading, and the experience is unhealthy and unpleasant. Don't waste your money and frustration - stay elsewhere!
There is no Pool, Bar, Gym or anything like that; they just have meeting rooms for business clients that come to their cafe which is a completely separate business.
You will not find EKOR food or pastries at breakfast or in your room as a welcome gift, even-though it would encourage guests to buy more downstairs.
The entire "EKOR EXPERIENCE" is very disappointing!
