Fabulous surroundings in an enchanted forest

The upsides: the surroundings are particularly beautiful. The building is situated in the heart of the Bükk forest around 7-8kms from Lillafüred, up on a road across the mountain. The lakes, the green surroundings, the lack of digital connectivity make it a unique experience of stay. The dishes served were tasty, both the dinner and the breakfast were delicious and abundant, with even lactose-free milk and dairy products available. Kids enjoyed the trampoline and the table soccer especially. Service by the staff was friendly, attentive and welcoming.
The downsides: this place is overpriced compared to the infrastructure, room comfort and facilities. No elevator inside may make it challenging for someone with a difficulty to move around on the staircases. Old windows and painting coming off, the building could really welcome some renovation it must be said. During our stay there was a storm and as it may happen with such isolated places, electricity was non-existent for several hours - luckily this happened during daytime and because of the good weather, we did not feel this too severely. At night or in wintertime this can be quite a challenge.

A repulsive place

We were barely on the terrace. No one came to serve us. I had to go in to see if they were open at all. There I found a man who looked at me like a bloody rag. What do I want here? The appearance of the person himself is not typical of a Restaurateur. I rarely come across such disgusting behavior. Another gentleman from Dunaújváros was there, he told me not to be surprised, he treated them the same way. So there's that place with the mobster-looking staff.

No mobile connection, stay away if you can't accept, perfect stay.

The atmosphere is perfect, the kindness of service is perfect, location is perfect for those who like nature.
Rooms are nice and clean, but if I am honest it can be improved. Bathroom clean but it can be improved, breakfast is good enough, selection of beverages are good enough here in the middle of nowhere.

A rural hideaway in the National Park near Lillafured

We stayed here whilst on a motorcycle tour of Eastern Europe. After a fantastic ride on bendy roads we wanted to stay near Lillafured and could not have been happier with this place. Rooms were basic but clean with plenty of hot water. The onsite restaurant served decent food and drink. Staff were friendly and spoke English. Happily they were OK with us paying in Euro as cards were not accepted. Fortunately we received our change in Hungarian Forint as this mean we had just enough to pay the Hungarian ferryman later in the day before we headed into Romania.

A MAFFIÓZÓ KINÉZETŰ ÉS VISELKEDÉSŰ Ember szolgált ki minket. Épphogy ki nem dobott minket, nagyon rossz érzés volt ott lenni.
Ritka fura érzésem volt, ritkán írok ilyet, de ezt meg kellett írnom. Olyan érzésem volt mint egy sötét helyen járok Amit sötét emberek irányítanak.
