Wonderful hotel
We stayed in one of the most beautiful castle hotels in Hungary in May 2026. The rooms are clean and beautiful, the food is delicious. The hotel staff is kind and helpful. There are many hiking spots in the area and the hotel also offers program options. This is our fourth stay here. The castle is cozy, calm and quiet, which is why we will return.

Premium price for restricted services – "cost-cutting" entirely at the guest's expense
We stayed at the hotel between August 5 and 10. I must highlight that the hotel provided absolutely no prior information about their recently introduced energy-saving restrictions. Not even in their standard information email sent two days before arrival. I only found out what to expect because I proactively contacted them to ask. The hotel then confirmed the reduction of services, but completely refused a proportional reduction of the full premium price or a free cancellation, claiming that the measures "would not significantly affect the guest experience."
Unfortunately, the reality on site proved this wrong, and services were even more limited than indicated:
The evening decorative lighting and the chimes, which are heavily featured in their marketing materials, were completely absent.
In the wellness area, the indoor pool and jacuzzi experience elements (jets, bubbles) were completely turned off.
According to their prior email, saunas were supposed to operate between 9 AM and 5 PM. In reality, you had to request them to be heated up well in advance, otherwise, the saunas were completely cold.
We were asked to use the air conditioning sparingly, which we respectfully complied with (setting it to 27°C).
Although the official government energy emergency ended on Saturday, the hotel maintained all restrictions until our departure. A wellness staff member even confirmed that the sauna was not turned on during Sunday daytime specifically citing the "energy situation."
We also experienced a structural flaw in the rooms: due to the poor design of the bathtub rim, a large amount of water flooded the floor during every single shower in both of our rented rooms.
The kindness of the staff and the overall quality of the food saved the situation from an immediate on-site complaint, but by the end, the gastronomy also slipped. On Sunday evening, completely dried-out, inedible leftover cakes were served, and my wife, Laura, received a fruit yogurt that was one day past its expiration date.
Overall, despite paying the full premium price, we did not receive the expected and advertised premium quality. In the name of "shared responsibility," the burden of reduced services was shifted entirely onto the guests.

Amazing castle with modern comfort
Clean and elegant hotel, the food at breakfast and dinner offers great variety and have good quality. We enjoyed playing bowling, board games and video games. The surroundings are beautiful and ideal for tracking.

Károlyi Castle – picturesque surroundings
Károlyi Castle – picturesque surroundings. The accommodation exceeded our expectations, the staff were extremely helpful, professional and unobtrusive. The castle, the individual rooms and suites, the castle halls and the surrounding park have been designed to a very high standard and are extremely well maintained. The same applies to the wellness area and other services offered by the castle. The accommodation is also suitable for families and small children. The restaurant and the quality of the dinner menu deserve special mention. The restaurant also caters for children, offering a special menu for them.

One of the best experiences in a Hungarian Hotel
I’ve stayed in many hotels over the years, but this one takes the cake. From the moment you set foot on the property you just feel how well managed and kept the hotel and the surrounding gardens are. The rooms are quite spacious, the bed is very comfortable. The wellness is perfect and the staff down there is pretty helpful. The breakfast variety is excellent and the food is prepared to perfection. The dinner is usually the weak link in hotels, but not here, the selection is well thought out and every single dish was well seasoned and perfectly made. The exterior and the interior are wonderful and the evening bell play is worth your attention.
If you love hiking like we do, a 17km trail starts right from the hotel garden, so can this hotel have it all? Almost, unfortunately they can’t pre-select the guests, so we didn’t have much luck with them, but hope you will.
All in all I can recon this place, I am sure you won’t be disappointed, this hotel is well worth your money.
