1 mi from center of Pécs

The rooms are large and appointed with Hungarian crafts charm. Front desk is helpful. 1 mi uphill from center Pécs. The adjoining restaurant is just fair. Overcooked & dry, except stews. No other nearby restaurants. Car park packed on weekends.

Absolutely disgusting

Dear Bagolyvár,
I have been coming to your restaurant with my family since childhood, and over the past 20 years, we’ve shared many beautiful moments there. Unfortunately, that all came to an end today when worms were crawling in the food. This incident has destroyed a level of trust that cannot be restored. Cleanliness and freshness are now completely in doubt, as something like this should never happen.

Amazing place with fantastic view

After visiting the city of Pécs with friends, we stayed one night in the hotel/panzió. We also had diner in the adjacent restaurant.
The hotel and restaurant are built on a slope at the outer part of the city. The restaurant's terrace offers a stunning view over eastern part of the city. You can have the same view from your hotel room, provided you book the right room...
The restaurant is Hungarian cuisine, of an above-average quality. The personnel is friendly and helpful. Foreign languages (English, German) are spoken very limited, as almost everywhere in Hungary.
The place is beautifully laid out in full traditional Hungarian style. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
One drawback, that may be essential: There are stairs to be taken, which may be too long and/or steep. There is NO elevator!

Authentic stay at a traditional wine house

We enjoyed our super cool stay these little authentic wine houses. The location is perfect, quiet and has a view over the city of Pecs. The rooms are small but big enough to stay in. Lovely furniture and decorations all over the property. Service was excellent and the food tasteful.

All in all, a rather disappointing stay

I had booked this B&B because the website featured what looked like a really nice veranda with good views over Pecs. I also liked the ethnographic decoration which was featured online. When we arrived in the evening there was a big noisy wedding. So we could not have a bite to eat and a glass of wine on the veranda/terrace. All we could do is go to the room which, as it was very much decorated, felt rather overwhelming. The bathroom is dated and the toilet seat not properly adjusted. The next morning we were told that we would have breakfast in another building just below because in the hotel they had to prepare for yet another wedding. This room had a terrace too but even while the rather basic buffet breakfast (which itself could be much improved) was served, here too tables and chairs etc. were moved because the of the preparations for the wedding. So this was, all in all, a rather disappointing stay.
