Wonderful family stay with beautiful sea views and an excellent location
We had a wonderful stay at Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu and were very happy with our choice of hotel.
For our family, we booked the Seaview Premier Suite together with the connecting 2 Twin Beds, Sea View room. The two rooms connect and essentially become a very spacious two-bedroom suite, which worked perfectly for us. The rooms were huge, comfortable and well maintained, with plenty of space for everyone. The sea view was also excellent and definitely one of the highlights of our stay.
The location of the hotel is superb. Suria Sabah is directly across the road, while Gaya Street and many of the restaurants, cafés and shops around the area are within walking distance. We barely had to think about transportation when we wanted to explore the city, which made the stay very convenient.
We also really appreciated the warm hospitality from the staff. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, welcoming and helpful, and the service throughout our stay was very pleasant.
Overall, Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu was a great choice for our family. The combination of spacious rooms, beautiful views, excellent location and warm service made for a very enjoyable stay. We would definitely consider staying here again the next time we are in Kota Kinabalu.

This hotel is fantastic!
Beautiful rooms, very friendly and helpful staff and stunning views. The breakfast buffet with à la carte menu was so good it’s worth staying there just for that. The gym and pool are beautiful and the beds super comfy. I could have spent weeks here and will def be staying here on my next visit.

Just WOW!
Hyatt Centric KK - review
This place made us fall in love with Sabah and Malaysians in general! The Hyatt centric in KK feels like a designer, modern, hip and happening hotel, right in the heart of the city. It has easy access to key places such as the islands, shopping malls (right across the road!) and local markets. It’s also only 20min from the airport which made it really easy for us to travel from our visit to Mulu national park.
Rooms are nice and big with a functional layout. The communal areas are very nicely done with a light and airy design (open on both sides) and an expensive and comfortable modern look.
Floors 22 and 23 have gorgeous views on both sides and provide a brilliant space to dine, relax, gym and swim.
The breakfast is incredible in terms of variety and quality of food. Plenty of choice for any type of cuisine and dietary needs. We throughly enjoyed leisurely family time every morning there.
However, the staff take this place to the next level. All of them - from anyone at front desk to the guys manning the cafe, the concierge, the housekeeping, the gym/swim staff and the restaurant staff. They are all so warm and gentle and always put you as the guest first.
From our first day, we were fully taken care of by Jack (hospitality manager). Even when he was busy juggling other guests and tasks, he always made time for our questions and requests. Jack ensured our whole family felt completely comfortable and looked after, in every way.
All the staff make time to stop and chat with you, even when it is a busy time. They are knowledgeable about the surrounding area and interesting local spots to visit. We had special moments with Mr Fouzzi who went out of his way, daily, to look after us so nicely.
Even the kitchen staff who bring the food out (and must be very busy inside) - they have genuine smiles and stop to share warm greetings generously.
I am vegetarian and the kitchen staff made a special effort for me with vegetarian food for dinner. Having a brief chat with Chef Elroy in the morning resulted in them organising a special menu with a variety of dishes for me, I was really pleasantly surprised. The dinner host (a fab Chinese chap with a Belfast accent!) was very non-chalant about it too!
Nothing felt like too much trouble - everything was just made to look easy for them. Of course, these things take a lot of good communication and organising but they did not let that on. This attitude made us feel like completely pampered Royalties.
After 6 days, we all left the hotel feeling very relaxed and well looked after. the Hyatt experience provided us total luxury and I can’t think of anything that could have been better for our stay in KK!

Excellent service, good hotel at great location
Stayed 3D2N at Hyatt Centric, room 2111 (sea view room) for birthday trip.
Customer service was excellent:
Staff at reception was very nice in helping with early check-in which was a pleasant surprise. When we came back to our room after a walk in the area, we were greeted by surprise arrangement in the room made with balloon, towel sculptures, a small cake etc. On our 2nd night we popped by at the bar on 23rd floor to chill out after a day trip. We waited quite long for our drinks and after checking, it was found out that the bartender missed out on our order. The manager/lead (a young guy who speaks good English) offered to waive off the charges. We were ok with the constant apologies but the service recovery effort was really impressive.
Location:
Within walking distance to the malls, local restaurants. There’re a couple of good cafes with good coffees (e.g mizumizu) and fresh bakes (e.g. dot dot dot: this is a very popular bakery even amongst the locals) within the area. For those who are looking at coffee roasters can try out Decrypt, around 10mins car ride.
Amenities and room condition:
Very clean and well maintained. The hotel looks to be newly renovated. Only thing is that the restaurant is on 22nd floor, right on top of our room level so we could hear noise from shifting of chairs in the early morning and some noise while staff prepare for the morning shift. Otherwise, the sea view room offered a great view of the sea / harbour during the day.
P.S. sorry we cannot remember the names of the reception staff (lady with long hair) and the staff we met at the bar. But please do extend our appreciation to everyone!

I would absolutely come back!
While travelling around Borneo, my mum and I—17-year-old son—stayed here for three nights over an eight-day period.
The hotel is really nice and modern, with friendly and attentive staff. Our room was spacious and very clean. The location is excellent: around 20 minutes from the airport and directly across the road from a large shopping mall with plenty of shops and restaurants. There’s also an HSBC nearby for cash withdrawals and a 7-Eleven just around the corner.
Breakfast can get busy, but there was always plenty of food and a great selection. The gym was good enough to get a decent workout in, although it’s more geared towards cardio than weights.
The only real downside, in my view, is the pool area. There are no umbrellas or shaded areas, so it’s difficult to sit by the pool when the sun is out. There are also only chairs rather than sun loungers.
Overall, a very comfortable stay and a great base for exploring the area. I would absolutely recommend to stay here.
