Terrible Experience – Unprofessional Management and False Accusations
I would strongly advise others to think carefully before booking D'Village Cottage.
Upon arrival, the property was dirty, poorly maintained, and infested with bugs — a far cry from the clean and welcoming environment that had been advertised. Despite the disappointing state of the cottage, we chose not to complain formally during our stay and tried to make the best of it, particularly as we were traveling with young children.
Shockingly, after our departure, the management falsely accused us of causing damage to the property. They claimed we had damaged a brick wall — an accusation that was completely baseless and without any credible proof. We hardly spent any time at the cottage because of the poor conditions and certainly caused no damage.
What made the situation even worse was the threatening and intimidating communication we received from the property's management after we denied their claim. They warned us against sharing our experience online and tried to pressure us into silence. Their behaviour was deeply unprofessional and made an already bad experience even more distressing.
Travelers should be aware that you could be unfairly blamed for issues that existed prior to your stay, and then harassed when you try to defend yourself. I have raised this with Booking.com and reported their conduct.
Save yourself the trouble — look elsewhere for honest hosts who respect their guests and maintain their properties properly.
