Treated like family ☺️
We are a family of 4 who stayed at Madi Giri, which is slightly further inside the island for 2 nights and then Madi Finolhu for 3 nights. Madi Finolhu is a superb beachfront guesthouse and the newer rooms are comfortable and only a few steps away from the public beach, which has plenty of seating and swings in the shade.
What makes this guesthouse outstanding is the owner, Matheen, and all of his staff. We were treated like family from the moment we arrived. Matheen was incredibly attentive and spent a lot of time with us, sharing interesting information about the island and his life.
We ate breakfast and dinner at the guesthouse café/restaurant, which is close to the harbour but only a short walk from the guesthouse itself as the island is very small. Food was simple but very tasty and portions were just right for us, not huge but satisfying.
We also went on a few of trips with Matheen, snorkeling, tuna fishing, which our teenage boys really enjoyed, and a dolphin spotting trip. All very reasonably priced and we felt safe and looked after the whole time, especially when snorkeling for the first time after many years!
Matheen also arranged for us to watch members of his family preparing coconut oil, which was really fascinating to watch and it was also wonderful to just see the locals going on with their daily lives.
We had the most magnificent stay on this beautiful local island and there’s no doubt that it was made even more special by our stay at Madi and its fabulous owner Matheen. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the island or the guesthouse to anyone looking for a peaceful, authentic holiday. A huge thank you from our family to Abdul Matheen, his family, Mamoon, Lov and the rest of the staff for such excellent service and care.

Beautiful, clean, comfortable accommodation with a great people!
Beautiful, clean accommodation in the heart of the tiny island of Maalhos, one of the greatest treasures of the Maldives. The accommodation is in immaculate condition and both the owner and his main helper Sharik are just great. They guide you around the island, take care and arrange everything you need. For our son's sake they got all sorts of groceries that we couldn't find in the shop, they planted the door to get a cot in the room, just a real treat and human touch. In addition, Sharik takes you on snorkeling and hikes around the area, which he safely guides you through! THANK YOU!

Basic but definitely excellent.
Basic but definitely excellent. Staff always very friendly and helpful. Meals a little small and sometimes monotonous but considering the cost, definitely ok. The people of the village are very well disposed towards tourists. The "mayor" offered us coffee.

We had the pleasure of staying at Madi Finolhu for 9 nights, over New Year's Eve.
Among the thousands of guesthouses of the Maldives we didn't really know how to choose, so we just trusted the good reviews and the happy faces on the pictures.
What we found was not only kindness, commitment and hospitality but also beautiful people.
Starting from an amazing New Year's Eve, down to the everyday activities and meals, Martin, Shariq and the whole team really went beyond what we expected.
Shariq guided us during many snorkeling excursions; we went to see turtles and sharks and also lived the crazy experience of swimming with sharks, rays and lion fish during the night! Not that scary if you have the right guide!
Long story made short, we just want to say that Madi Finolhu is the best you can find in Maalhos: private dinners on the beach, dedication and beautiful smiles and stories is what you'll find.
Last but not least you'll get amazing food!!! Top chef!
