An oasis of tranquility in Atlixco
Posada loa Alcatraces is a charming small hotel, an easy 10-minute walk from the zócalo. The rooms vary in size and are scattered throughout the property but all are beautifully decorated and each has a gas fireplace which keeps them nice and warm on chilly winter nights. The bathrooms are on the small side but there is plenty of hot water and complimentary toiletries are provided. The rooms and baths are spotlessly clean. We stayed in Room #1 which is the smallest room, but it had ample space, a queen-sized canopy bed, desk, and loveseat. We found it to be cozy and even a bit romantic. There was a covered terrace outside overlooking a beautiful fountain and courtyard, perfect for relaxing and visiting with our friends who were staying next door in Room #2, a larger room with a king-sized bed and a loft. The grounds are lovely with roaming peacocks (during the day), a large swimming pool area and a spa and exercise equipment are provided for the guests. Posada los Alcatraces also has an on-site bar and restaurant. The restaurant and bar are attractive and well-appointed and, while the menu is limited, all of the food was well-prepared and delicious. I especially recommend the chicken pipian. For those who are driving, the hotel has a large, secure parking area. All of the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. If you are planning to visit Atlixco and are looking for a delightful, quiet place to stay, Posada los Alcatraces is definitely your best choice.

Great getaway and food experience!
Place is exceptionally charming, quiet, perfect weekend getaway. Restaurant offers top-quality dishes, which is something we actually didn't expect. We plan to be back sometime soon, Atlixco is a must-see place near Puebla and Cuernavaca!

The location of the hotel is aproximately 900 metres from the zócalo (city centre) which makes for a nice walk. The hotel rooms are located around a very nice garden that include a few peacocks that roam free in the morning. The swimming pool has a very nice temperature for a swim and there is also a hot tub. You can get food delivered to the swimming pool area. The where we stayed was quite big, including a tiny kitchen and living room. The bedroom is not so spacious but quite comfortable with nice sunlight coming in from the windows. The only problem I saw regarding the room was the small shower in the bathroom although I must say was compensated with the nice shower head set high up and allowing for a nice flow of water. The bathroom amenities do not offer a hair dryer.
The food in the restaurant is quite good and it is opened until 22:00.
The hotel has a spa and you can make an appointment at the reception. I did pamper myself a bit and it was a very nice experience.
The staff is very friendly and quite helpful, even offering to go to the pharmacy for us.

Lovely place to stay in Atlixco
Posada los Alcatraces is located about ten minutes north of the zócalo in Atlixco. The posada is surrounded by beautiful gardens, fountains and it is very plush and green. I had a queen size room that was on the street. It was a little bit noise as there was a bar across the street. As my room was in the back of the posada I was unable to connect to the internet. I had to take my laptop to the reception area in order for it to connect. There are eleven rooms at the posada. The rooms located in the center of the posada were probably more quiet. A swimming pool is also available as well. There are peacocks, ducks and parrots at the posada as well. It really has beautiful grounds. I would most likely stay there again as it was nicer than a small hotel that I stayed at a year ago that was only two blocks from the zócalo.

Decepción de lugar
Nos quedemos 2 días de los cuales pagamos anticipadamente porque nos dijeron que estaba saturado y no nos garantizaban que hubiera lugar (de lo cual fuimos los únicos en todo el hotel esos días fue mentira) el primero día llegamos a las 4:30 pm queriendo utilizar la alberca y nos dijeron que estaba ya cerrada.... después de estar rogando nos dieron permiso de estar en ella hasta las 6 pm, estando en el cuarto nos dimos cuenta que no había teléfono, no hay servibar ni servicio de refri para la habitación, no hay servicio de restaurante que porque tuvieron un evento el sábado y se fueron temprano supuestamente.m, a lo cual tuvimos que salir en la noche al pueblo a buscar que comer y por lo de la villa iluminada había mucha gente y fue un caos encontrar estacionamiento libre y poder bajar a cenar... alquilamos el cuarto de Alcatraces para tener uso del dvd en la noche ver películas y la sorpresa fue que no tenía cable HMDI y se queda un señor mayor de vigilante solo en al noche, al dvd le pusieron una caja de metal con candado a la cual no puedes conectarle el cable y no tienen la llave del candado. Al día siguiente obvio súper molesta fui con la gerente Adiel a reclamarle todo lo acontecido pidiéndole que pusiera solución o me devolviera mi dinero que se pago 2,500 por noche carísimo para lo que es! Nos cambio de habitación a la de margaritas que está 3,650 por noche sin costo para solucionar nuestra molestia, el servicio de la posada deja mucho que desear y no tiene servicios básicos, no hay cenas tampoco ni facilidades para calentar algo no vuelvo nunca!i
