Lovely place to stay

Superb place to stay in a gorgeous small town. The service was sensational, the room comfortable and clean and the breakfast was delicious. We asked my son and his partner to join us (they're locals to Altdorf) and they were welcomed and looked after. It only cost us 5 Euro for them too. Great little town and wonderful accommodation. Will definitely stay there again.

quiet little town of Altdorf at 20 minutes from Neurenberg city and expo

Because I had to be in neurenberg city for a packaging fair and I was far too late to book a reasoble hotel in the old center, I booked a room in a small old city (Altdorf beim Neurenberg)./night you get good value for your pri
The rooms are basic but clean, the breakfast was very typical for the region but very good and the adjacent restaurant serves good food at a very reasonable price.
For 60 €/night you get a good value for your cost and a family with very good service.

We were forgotten

We had a 2 nights reservation for this hotel, and had told that we would have a late arrival (11pm). Unfortunately the owner had forgotten that, and upon arrival the hotel was closed and the owner was not possible to contact. We had to find other options, which was not easy since other hotels was also fully booked. The hotel looks nice from outside, in the middle of charming Altdorf. But if you plan to arrive late, please assure that the owner confirms this information.

A fabulous experience

Travelling by car through Europe, we chanced upon this beautiful, medieval and fascinating town, where we stayed at this particular gasthof. Contrary to an earlier review, they do have private parking around the back. The hotel room was the usual German standard, large, sparkling clean, with chunky furniture. The breakfast was the bomb. The greatest selection of cheeses, meats, cereals, pickles, smoked salmon, anchovies, breads, a warm selection of eggs, bacon and sausage - oh and the most gorgeous cake. Not to mention coffee, teas, juices etc. The town is a wonderful typically German medieval style with tiny back streets leading off from each other with a fascinating variety of houses tucked away in the nooks and crannies. This hotel is right in the pedestrianised, shared space square opposite a gorgeous church and the beautiful Rathaus. A good selection of restaurants serving the usual delicious wines and beers. We enjoyed it so much we made a point of stopping there again on our way back home nearly 3 weeks later, when it was just as enjoyable. Highly recommended.

A really pretty hotel full of charm

I stayed here for one night en route to Amberg. It was recommended to me and I booked by emailing the owner who replied very promptly in English.
It is a very small, local place so don't expect 24 hour room service but it is full of charm and the food was fantastic. No car park but free parking after 5pm and before 9am on the street outside.
Overall a great little place
