Hotel is very old which added to its charm. The buffet breakfast was very good and was very close to the train station. Staff were great and the room was clean

I stayed in Room 30 on the third floor. Unfortunately, the bathtub drain was clogged, and the water would not drain properly. I tried to take a shower, but after about five minutes, the water had risen to my knees, so I had to give up.
I also saw a cockroach in the lobby, which was quite frightening.
The view from my room was absolutely amazing, and the breakfast was excellent. However, the clogged bathtub drain was a major disappointment and made my stay much less enjoyable.

Rising prices and reduced services but still only just ok

We have stayed her before on a couple of occasions and our experience is quite varied. I would say that generally whilst prices have more than doubled over the years the services and experience has decreased relative.
The hotel restaurant and bar was shut quite a few years ago which is a shame as it was very good in our experience.
The hotel only does breakfast and there is no room service. Breakfast is just ok. There is plenty of food to eat but the quality is average, coffee is absolutely vile and virtually undrinkable.
On a positive note it would appear that the hotel has hired a Ukrainian family to run the hotel - from reception to maintenance to linen and room service including cleaning rooms and changing towels and bedsheets.
WiFi - coverage used to be appalling and only available in the reception area but this is now fixed and good coverage is available throughout the hotel.
Parking - Yes there are some allocated parking spaces almost opposite and there are a handful of spaces on a covered garage which you have to book and are chargeable when you make a reservation.
Location this is one of the reasons we use this hotel - it is a short walk into the main town area which you will need if you want to eat or drink during the day or evening.
Berchtesgaden has an abundance of place to eat and drink aswell as other places to spend money.
Final comment. We stayed in a smart hotel in the centre of Vienna for a week prior to visiting Berchtesgaden. The hotel in Vienna was significantly less money and offered so much more that this hotel in terms of being a full service hotel.
The more this hotel increases it prices and reduces it’s services the more it will lose out to other competitive hotels and the rise of quality AirBnb

The picture is misleading. It looks like a 4 stars hote, which in fact is between 2 to 3 stars hotel up in mid level of a hill.
There are about 30 steps to walk to reach the lift. The room is not spacious
Should provide information on how to reach the hotel. We relied on google map and as such we had to pull and push two heavy luggages on a rocky and sandy steep path for about 15 mins.
Not recommended for non driving tourists who relied on public transport.

Not really.

It should be noted that the hotel, although it has an elevator, can only be reached after several flights of stairs and corridors; unfortunately, this feature is not highlighted, and a person with mobility difficulties cannot access the hotel! As for the rest, nothing special, small room, non-blackout curtains, tiny bathroom with little lighting. The breakfast buffet is good. The site from which I booked states that it is 250 meters from the train station; this information is also incorrect, as it is a 20-minute walk.
