lovely friendly b&b - will be returning
We found this accommodation on the internet and made a reservation. Holds the owner made us feel very welcome. Our room was spacious and very clean. Also had a fabulous view of the Mosel and the castle. We also had a nice balcony. There was a lovely pool and a small fitness area. Substantial breakfasts of cereals, yoghurt, fruit, juice,bread, meat and cheese. Also cooked eggs of choice available and lots of strong coffee or tea. Hilde encourages guests to take extra to make a packed lunch if you need one. So nice and friendly so will return. It's about 10 mins walk to the centre which helps work off dinner!

Good location
Small guesthouse run by the owner, who lives in a nearby village. If you are arriving after 19.00 let her know so she can be on site to let you in. There is some off street parking and the building has a lift. The 8 front rooms each have a good sized balcony overlooking the Mosel River, the rooms facing the rear also had a balcony each. The room and ensuite were a good size, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is included. A taxi from the station cost E6 and it's 10-15 min walk into the centre of town.

Our Favorite!
This was our second stay at Haus Erholung and it was everything we expected and more. We had our granddaughter with us and we stayed in one of their appartments that faced the Mosel with a furnished balcony, living room, dining room, kitchen and bedroom. The accomodations were impeccably clean and tidy and quiet and the elevator was a welcomed surprise. The breakfast spread was beautiful and included that special German touch. We ate in the cheery sunroom and admired all the lovely accent pieces and potted blooming plants. We have traveled a lot and without exception, this is our very favorite!

Superb Guesthouse on the Mosel.
We have just returned from a week in the Mosel. We travelled with friends who have stayed with Frau Lehman many times before, and they did the bookings by telephone. On arrival at Haus Erholung, we were immediately offered tea or coffee and enjoyed it sitting in the garden beside a bubbling water feature. Haus Erolung is on two sites opposite each other on Oberer Weg. The one we were in fronts on to this road, and has delightful rooms each with a balcony where one can sit and sip a glass of wine in the evening, or pick up a glorious dawn chorus of birds in the early morning. The interior of the house was light, bright and superbly appointed. There is an indoor swimming pool, sauna and fitness centre. The rooms were furnished with taste and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was shining and the power shower delivered hot water at all times. (The only thing I missed was a hair-drier.)
Breakfast was served across the road in a dining room which gave a wonderful view of the Mosel river, along a sweeping meander from Cochem around to Beilheim. Each day the light, clouds, sunshine, or wind made the view different. River craft included ferry-boats, freight barges, canoes, rowing sculls, and on one morning we watched a small helicopter spray the vines on the opposite bank. Breakfast was the traditional German selection of meats, cheeses, fruit, cereals and an abundance of delicious coffee. There was always a big choice of bread and rolls, crusty and plain or seeded - all fresh and tasty. On a large table in the middle of the room was laid out a selection of books on birds and wildlife, along with other historical information.
Haus Erholung is one of the best accommodations I have ever stayed in, even surpassing hotels with five stars. Frau Lehman oversees everything and is a friendly and helpful lady. I would recommend a stay here to anyone who likes to be in a quieter part of town, though within a twenty minute stroll along the river bank from the heart of the town.

A wonderful gastezimmer on the Mosel
We did not have a reservation but after a short drive along the Mozel in Cochem our car seemed to automatically stop at this beautiful gastehaus called Haus Erholung. We were greeted by Hildegunde Lehmann and shown the available rooms and we very quickly settled into our comfortable accomodations. Our room had a balcony with patio furniture and lovely view. The charming decor consisted of yellow plaid draperies and matching comforters and nice blue carpet. The bathroom sparkled as though it had been polished from top to bottom. We even had a visit from the Easter Bunny who dropped off a basket of eggs and candy. The bed must have been great because I felt very rested the next morning. Breakfast was a beautifully arranged buffet with various breads, jams, meats, cheeses, cereals, juices, yogurt, fruits, eggs and coffee or tea. We loved ever bite. I would highly recomment this gastehaus and will stay there again if we have the opportunity. Ms. Hildegunde will warmly welcome you and you will be friends immediately. After returning home I found their web site [--] is in German but the pictures tell the story.
