Quiet small scale hotel.

Small scale hotel that has just been renovated. Everything spic and span, good beds, good breakfast, parking in front of the door.
We were there for the second time in transit to the Czech Republic.
Grimma is a nice town with nice restaurants where you can eat and drink for a reasonable price.

Very clean, quiet and comfortable

Went to Berlin Christmas markets last year. This hotel was very reasonable, quiet, comfortable and disabled friendly (apart from, from memory a step or possibly 2 at the entrance. The bathroom has an added luxury if a heated floor. Breakfast is continental but lovely. Staff are very friendly. Walking distance to some markets,€9 for taxis to others. Few minutes walk to underground that links to the airport for only a few euro.

First class

This hotel was very good and the owner very welcoming. We have just returned and would recommend. The location is good near to a very good restaurant. The room was comfortable and breakfast very good.

Nice, Friendly place in quiet town

Summary; small, clean hotel in centre of Grimma, approx 10 miles from Colditz (our destination).
We chose a hotel in Grimma because it was handy for Colditz, where we wanted to take a tour of the castle. The hotel is really a series of rooms above a shop in the centre of Grimma. The pleasant staff spoke English and showed us up to our good sized room. It was very clean with modern furniture with a comfy double bed, desk, two chairs and usual storage. En-suite was modern with shower but no bath. TV had just one English Channel (BBC24 but not that that bothered us). Free wi-fi but thinks it may be time restricted. Breakfast is taken in the one communal room and consisted of
You would probably be here for something other than Grimma itself because it is very quiet. There are a couple of restaurants though our choice (Ratskeller) was closed on the day we were there (Monday).
As I said, clean hotel if you need a bed for the night in Grimma, but not a destination.

Stayed 3 weeks and was very pleased !

The property is in great shape, rooms are neat and tidy, and Frau Schneider serves a very nice breakfast every morning. Her son Christian Schneider worked as an Executive Chef at major hotels across Asia, his expertise and professional capabilities go far beyond what one might expect in a quaint little village. Also the hotel location was very convenient, there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. I would certainly recommend the Altstadt Hotel to anyone staying in Grimma.
