Decent, well located hotel

The hotel is well located, a short walk to the centre of the city (U Bahn, train station, old town, etc) and is in a quiet, leafy area and thus very peaceful.
We check in late at night - which was straightforward - and were given a room on the second floor. The room was fine, and contrary to what some other reviews have said, I didn't find it particularly dated or shabby in any way. The bathroom was very small but adequate. We did discover the following day that the a/c was leaking water which had trickled down the inside of the wardrobe directly underneath and made some of my clothes wet. We reported it to reception who moved us to a different room on the fourth floor which didn't have this problem.
We did discover some more items in this room that were missing from the first room we were given, including: conditioner in the shower, vanity kits and drinks in the mini-bar. Not sure why these items were missing from the first room.
Having arrive after midnight, we were quite hungry and the bar at the hotel was still open, so we bought a drink and the friendly bar tender Dennis was able to whip some nachos for us though the kitchen was closed, which was very kind of him and greatly appreciated, so a shout out to him.
Overall, for the price we'd paid as part of the package we'd booked, I found the room and the hotel nice, and liked the quietness of it. There were some things that could be improved - for example the pillows are quite small square ones with only one on each I( prefer to have two pillows to choose from), the curtains a little threadbare, and there was no complimentary water (I always think this should be standard), and no teabags (though there was a Nespresso machine).

Friendly, with weaknesses, price-performance is unfortunately not quite right

The reception staff is extremely friendly – pleasantly unobtrusive, helpful and professional. This is definitely a plus in this House and makes a good first impression straight away.
Unfortunately, the room itself cannot quite keep this impression. The furnishings look clearly outdated, and in many places noticeable signs of wear and cosmetic defects show:
– Worn or damaged edges on furniture
– Dirt or paint splashes on fairings
– Clearly visible wall traces
– Partially soiled or mouldy silicone joints in the bath
– Overall a rather musty smell in the room
The room is functional, but the overall condition does not seem contemporary – especially not at an overnight price of 199 euros. For this price, Hanover clearly offers more modern, well-kept and altogether more pleasant hotels.
Conclusion:
Solid for one night and thanks to the nice staff not a complete failure, but the condition of the rooms and the value for money unfortunately do not convince in this price category.

excellent and nothing else

Excellent hotel, to which I returned after some time and with which I am widely satisfied as in the past.
Excellent location, convenient to everything, street parking as well as private, quiet at night. Cleanliness, courtesy, and breakfast ok.
Nothing negative to highlight.

Miserable experience

My stay was not good. There was no air conditioning in my room at all. I informed the guy at the front desk who basically brushed me off and told me – without even getting up from his chair – that I was supposed to slowly decrease the temperature from 24° to 23°, wait several minutes, then decrease to 22°, wait again, etc. until I reach 18°. As ridiculous as that sounded, I gave it a try, and of course it did not work. So I went back to the front desk after an hour. The guy had been replaced by a woman who was much more sympathetic. She came up to my room and saw for herself that it was almost 30°. She fiddled with the control, could not get it work, so offered to look for a different room for me. She came back a few minutes later and said she checked at least four other rooms and none of them had air conditioning. Her only advice was that I sleep with the window open, which I did. But on the second night, a group of kids in the park across from the hotel were shouting and laughing till well past 3:00 AM. Between that and the temperature, it was impossible to sleep.
I see now some comments from other guests about a lack of air conditioning so this seems to have been a longstanding problem.
Apart from the air conditioning, the safe in my room also did not work. I told the staff but they were unable to fix this either. And then one of the elevators in the hotel was broken one evening. So on the whole, the hotel looks nice on the outside but seems to be falling apart inside.

The staff and room itself were fine, the issue was the air conditioning was broken during a heatwave. We checked out at 23:00 unable to sleep. Staff initially refused to refund until the next day, but eventually did it. Went to Doubletree by Hilton instead which had working air con.
Staff admitted it was too hot to sleep in.
