Disappointing stay for the wedding
We booked a total of five hotel rooms and two sleeping barrels for our wedding party for the night of June 20th to June 21st. Unfortunately, the stay was anything but smooth.
Upon our arrival in the afternoon, we initially received a room key for an already occupied room. As a result, we suddenly found ourselves with only four instead of the booked five rooms – of all people, we as the bride and groom had no room, could not prepare for the wedding, and did not even know where we would spend our wedding night until the evening. At the reception, no one could initially assist us. We were promised that someone would get in touch, but we received no updates at all. Only after the bride's parents took care of it themselves did we finally get a room around 7 PM – about five hours later.
Unfortunately, the breakfast the next morning did not meet our expectations for a four-star hotel. By around 9:30 AM, the scrambled eggs and other dishes were already gone and were not replenished despite multiple checks. By around 9:45 AM, they also began clearing the breakfast buffet, even though the breakfast time officially lasted until 10:00 AM.
The rooms themselves were generally spacious, new, and beautifully decorated in a mining style. The view of the greenery and the location were also very nice. However, in two of the five rooms, the showers were defective, so only one of the two nozzles worked in each. In our room, there was even a broken nozzle lying next to it, which was incomprehensible to us and unfortunately tarnished the otherwise good impression.
Additionally, we were still waiting for feedback regarding a missing phone during our stay. Unfortunately, we also received no message about this – even a brief note that nothing was found would have been expected from our perspective. Upon inquiry, a small discount was granted when paying. However, we would have wished that the hotel would have approached us on its own after the significant inconveniences. Especially on such a special day as one's own wedding, we expected more organization, communication, and service.
It's a pity – the location and ambiance are nice, but the service unfortunately did not meet our expectations.

At Landhaus Grum, we experienced fantastic food with sensational service. The beautiful premises and the great hotel room made the stay perfect. We particularly liked the many loving details from mining that give the house a very special charm. Landhaus Grum is definitely worth a trip – we would gladly return!

Not a good service
This review is for the restaurant. Unfriendly, inflexible staff. Not hospitable!
At Google I asked to delete my review after our stay as part of a company outing a few years ago. This has been removed. Instead of spending time and energy tackling negative reviews, the operator should think about the reviews and work on them. Since it is mostly criticism of the service for years, that would be a good approach.
My evaluation of the Landhaus Grum in Hattingen was justified and I have at least ten witnesses for that. If owners can have critical reviews removed, the result is falsified.

Unexpected Surprise - Better than anticipated
After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, I was concerned about staying here. Fortunately, the stay was a very pleasant surprise. I have been coming to Germany to do charity work for many years, and the Landhaus Grum is as good as any guest house/small hotel where I have stayed in the country. The rooms were large, comfortable, and clean. The room was in good condition with a coffee maker, safe, refrigerator, and fan. The breakfast was standard, but it was fine with all of the traditional foods. Overall, I was very pleased with the Landhaus Grum. It is also an easy walk to the old town which is also recommended.
